DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Application Analyst to join our team at the Finance, Technology, Analytics, and Accounting Administration (FTAA) and Division of Enterprise Technology (DIT). We have multiple job openings for this role and encourage those with in depth knowledge and experience with Epic to apply.
In this role you will be responsible for Epic application configuration design, workflow standards, and system governance across one or more functional domains of Epic Electronic Health Records (EHR) implementation. You will also for configure and maintain Epic integrations, translating clinical and operational workflows into precise system design decisions, and ensuring that the build accurately reflects the needs of the programs it serves. You will lead test activities within the assigned functional domain, reviews and approves the work of less Senior Specialists, facilitates working sessions with clinical and program staff to gather and validate requirements, and serves as the primary point of escalation for complex integration issues that require deeper technical judgment.
Some of what you will do:- Establish and maintain the agency's Epic integration architecture standards, interface naming conventions, build guidelines, and governance framework for all inbound and outbound data exchanges
- Review and approve interface specifications, data mapping documents, and build decisions produced by interface analysts
- Represent DSHS in inter-agency integration governance forums and Epic Technical Services
- Develop interface drivers, translation maps, and routing rules within Epic
- Coordinate with Epic Technical Services and external trading partners to complete interface build specifications, connection setup, and activation activities
- Establish the integration testing strategy, acceptance criteria, and go-live readiness standard
- Direct and review test plan development, message validation activities, and defect resolution performed by interface analysts
- Monitor active interface connections using Epic's Interface Monitor and related tools to identify message failures, processing errors, and transmission delays
- Investigate and resolve interface errors in a timely manner, escalating to Epic Technical Services or trading partners as needed
- Perform routine maintenance activities including certificate renewals
- Contribute to program-level planning for integration milestones, including resource allocation recommendations, trading partner scheduling, and risk identification
Who should apply?A Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
AND
Seven years of progressively responsible experience in Epic application analysis, configuration, and implementation, including at
least two years in a lead or senior capacity.
OR
Eleven years of direct experience in Epic Interface analyst and configuration with demonstrated leadership of complex build efforts.
Note: This job requires Epic Certification. If you do not have Epic Certification, you will successfully get certified in the modules identified within a 4 month period after hire.
What we're looking for:- Current Epic application certification in one or more modules relevant to this job
- Demonstrated experience leading configuration design or build activities across a full Epic implementation lifecycle, from build through activation
- Demonstrated experience providing technical guidance, work review, or mentoring to other analysts in a project or operational setting
- Working knowledge of Epic Bridges integration engine, including interface driver configuration, translation maps, routing rules, and connection management for inbound and outbound interfaces
- Knowledge of health information management and data governance principles as applied to interface design, including data integrity, patient matching, and information blocking requirements
- Systematic troubleshooting of interface failures, message errors, and data transmission issues in a production healthcare environment
- Developing clear and complete interface specification documents and data mapping tables accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Manage multiple concurrent interface development and support activities within project timelines and shifting program priorities
- Collaborate effectively with application analysts, database administrators, network engineers, vendor technical teams, and program representatives across organizational lines
- Work independently to analyze, design, develop, test, and activate interface solutions with minimal supervision
