Full Job Description
Technical Maintenance Specialist for the Space Force Range Contract

Typical Duties
  • Responsible for performing Program Depot Maintenance (PDM); Unscheduled & Emergency Depot Level Maintenance (UDLM & EDLM) activities on instrumentation systems.
  • Lead the inspection, troubleshooting, adjustment, alignment, repair, refurbishment, and corrosion control of Range Prime Mission Equipment (PME).
  • Resolve equipment outages and alarms quickly and provide timely problem escalation.
  • Provide technical direction and/or training during equipment installation, modification, and preventative/corrective maintenance as required.
  • Perform equipment maintenance, equipment/system status reporting duties in accordance with the Integrated Organizational and Depot Maintenance Plan (IODMP).
  • Document maintenance actions and track man hours/material costs for assigned tasks.
  • Provide Depot support for new systems and systems under modification in relation to requirements, design, test, and acceptance technical reviews.
  • Assist with the development of Depot and engineering schedules.
  • Perform technical duties in an electronic shop environment or out in the field.
  • Facilitate system initiatives and support projects that are being developed or installed.
  • Promote process improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements
  • Associate degree in a related technical field degree or technical or military school or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in an applicable technical field with a focus on maintenance and troubleshooting. Range instrumentation subsystem experience preferred.
  • Proficient in electronic, mechanical, troubleshooting, repairing, identifying, and isolating technical issues and maintaining range instrumentation equipment.
  • Knowledgeable in the type of operations, calibrations, and maintenance of the various subsystem instruments supporting the Vandenberg Space Force Base mission.
  • Good comprehension of Range instrumentation subsystem operational roles supporting Western Range missions.
  • Knowledge of Environmental and OSHA Standards, preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO9000 Quality inspection process, preferred.
  • Knowledge of IPC A-600 standards, preferred.
  • Ability to lift equipment and components up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to travel on occasion in support of work at off-base locations.
  • The flexibility to work non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project, depot emergency repairs, UDLM or EDLM requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.


Salary and Other Compensation
  • The starting hourly range for this position is $42.56 - $52.26. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Salary determined by Collective Bargaining Agreement.
