Role description

looking for a passionate, highly-motivated Design Engineer with an interest in Driveline systems to help develop a multitude of torque transferring components.
Within the first two years, the primary responsibilities of this role are to support the design of Driveline components for an upcoming project

  • Simultaneous Engineering with potential suppliers, including visits to their manufacturing plant.
  • Issue of owned drawings and/or supplied parts specifications.
  • Working with Supplier and Vehicle Plants to support trials and ensure a smooth product/vehicle launch.
  • Working with customer facing groups to ensure no issues for customer vehicles.
  • Reporting to the Driveline Design Manager, the person in this role will support the PDE department's objective to build "World Class Powertrains in North America."

What you'll be doing
  • Creating validated 3D models, 2D drawings, and supplier spec sheets utilizing the standard design process.
  • Leading Design Reviews for your responsible parts to show how your design achieves its function and targets.
  • Developing counter-measures to gaps such as cost, mass, durability, strength, and warranty rate based on data and engineering mindset.
  • Building relationships with key stakeholders (such as vehicle design, TMC driveline design, Supplier Development teams, purchasing, and assembly plants).
  • Managing NA suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of quality parts in line with the requirements of each milestone.
  • Benchmarking similar designs to improve our customer experience and cost.
