Description

The DR/COOP Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, validating, and documenting disaster recovery and continuity of operations capabilities for enterprise systems, ensuring operational resilience and recoverability aligned with enterprise backup and recovery processes

Location: Rockville, MD

Salary: 88,000-118,000

Clearance: Secret or L Clearance

Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for enterprise infrastructure including VMware clusters, databases, network configurations, Microsoft 365 integrations, storage replication systems, and backup environments ensuring alignment with enterprise backup and recovery processes
• Administer and validate backup configurations including job scheduling, offsite replication, retention policies, and restore testing to ensure recovery point objectives and recovery time objectives are achievable and documented
• Coordinate and execute periodic disaster recovery exercises validating failover capabilities, network redundancy, system restoration procedures, and identity service continuity, documenting results and presenting findings to executive leadership
• Ensure backup success rates, restore verification tests, and replication integrity metrics are monitored and maintained within acceptable performance thresholds
• Integrate disaster recovery readiness reporting into enterprise governance reviews including risk assessments, remediation plans, and infrastructure resiliency improvements
• Participate in Change Advisory Board reviews for infrastructure modifications that impact recovery posture ensuring appropriate risk assessment and mitigation strategies are implemented
• Maintain disaster recovery documentation including recovery procedures, escalation contacts, test reports, and compliance evidence supporting audit readiness
• Coordinate with system administration, network, security, and cloud leads to ensure cross-support alignment of recovery strategies and operational continuity safeguards

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of relevant experience supporting disaster recovery and continuity planning within enterprise IT environments. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining disaster recovery plans, conducting recovery testing, evaluating system resiliency, implementing continuity strategies, ensuring recovery objectives are met, documenting recovery procedures, and supporting enterprise continuity planning.

Master's Degree with 3+ years or Associate's Degree with 7+ years of relevant experience may be substituted.

Requirements and Skills

  • Experience executing disaster recovery tabletop and live failover exercises

Preferred Certifications
  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)
  • Certified Disaster Recovery Engineer (CDRE)
