Full Job Description
Kearney & Company is seeking a highly skilled DoW Audit Remediation Consultant in Alexandria, VA to join our team supporting one of the Federal government's largest agencies! Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Supporting the Department of the Navy (DON) audit response, audit remediation, internal controls, financial processes, and/or accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statements of Federal Financial Accounting Standards (SFFAS), and/or relevant Department of the Treasury and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) policies
  • Managing project plan: prioritize tasks, meet established deadlines, seek out and provide value-added services
  • Integrating data analytics and automation with project tasks to achieve client and engagement goals
  • Understanding the end-to-end business processes of the Department of the Navy (DON) and applying relevant GAAP, specifically the procurement process including obligations and how to identify stale unliquidated obligations.
  • Investigating and analyzing stale obligation balances, identifying root causes and identifying corrective actions for targeted unliquidated obligations
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, procurement, and IT, to understand transaction workflows and feeder system data
  • Providing training and support to end-users on ULO monitoring and aged balance resolution techniques.
  • Executing the day-to-day research, analysis, monitoring reports of key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Working closely with and communicating the status of project tasks/goals to the client and Kearney team
  • Demonstrating excellent writing and communication skills as significant time is spent drafting/updating communication artifacts (e.g., Standard Operating Procedures, Desktop Guides, whitepapers, technical training materials)
  • Demonstrating strong customer service skills and the ability to work in occasional high-pressure situations with short deadlines
  • Directing and reviewing the work of Consultants and Senior Associates
  • Communicating status of project-related tasks to Team Lead and client

Qualifications

  • BA/BS/BBA degree from an accredited college/university with a major in accounting
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive, relevant experience
  • Experience working with DoW clients
  • Experience in DoW financial statement auditing, audit remediation, or audit readiness
  • Proficient skills in MS Excel and other data analytics tools
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an U.S. Secret (or higher, such as Top Secret or TS/SCI) security clearance (requires U.S. citizenship)
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience researching and supporting deobligations of targeted stale obligations at in DoW agencies
  • Experience working with DoW's Advanced Analytics (Advana) platform
  • Ability to independently research data reconciling variances
  • Highly proficient skills in MS Excel
  • Experience working with Working Capital Fund or Department of Navy clients
  • One of the following professional certifications: CPA, CISA, CIA, CGFM or CDFM

Overview

The expected salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $140,000. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation (meeting or exceeding the range) will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).
