Join our Team as a DOT Compliance Specialist!

The Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive DOT Compliance Specialist to support and maintain compliance within all applicable Department of Transportation regulations. In this role, you will oversee driver qualification, safety programs, vehicle compliance, regulatory reporting, and transportation recordkeeping to help ensure safe and compliant operations across the organization. You will collaborate closely with Regulatory Compliance Transportation Operations, Human Resources, Environmental Health & Safety, Fleet Maintenance, and Drivers to monitor/audit transportation activities, identify compliance risks, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires strong organizational skills, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. What You'll Be Doing:
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local Department of Transportation regulations, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requirements.
  • Oversee the quality of and maintenance of driver qualification files, license renewals, and related compliance documentation.
  • Monitor Hours of Service records and electronic logging device data to ensure accuracy and regulatory adherence.
  • Develop, implement, and support transportation safety programs, policies, and compliance procedures.
  • Conduct audits of vehicle maintenance records and safety practices to identify compliance gaps and support corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and support Department of Transportation audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting activities.
  • Maintain accurate records related to vehicle inspections, maintenance, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate and document safety incidents, accidents, and violations, supporting corrective action and follow-up activities.
  • Support drug and alcohol testing programs, including random selections and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Collaborate with Regulatory Compliance, Transportation, Operations, Environmental Health & Safety, Human Resources, and Fleet Maintenance teams to support ongoing compliance efforts.
  • Train and support drivers and staff on safety standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Generate reports and maintain documentation to support internal and external audits and reviews.
  • Stay current on Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations and communicate updates to internal stakeholders.

What We're Looking For:
  • Associate's Degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business, or a related field
  • 3 + years of experience in DOT compliance, transportation safety, or fleet operations
  • Strong knowledge of Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and transportation safety regulations
  • Experience working with electronic logging device systems and compliance management software, preferably Samsara
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage records, identify discrepancies, and maintain accurate documentation

What Sets You Apart:
  • Bachelors Degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business or related field
  • Certified Director of Safety (CDS)
  • Certified Transportation Professional (CTP)
  • OSHA training or related safety certifications
  • Experience preparing for or participating in DOT audits.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • On call during remote days as needed.
  • Travel up to 15-25% may be required to support audits, inspections, training, and operational needs.

What Your Total Compensation & Benefits Package will look like:

Salary - $94,020 - $120,540 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate's education and experience.
