Through DoD SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes, Sierra Nevada Corporation provides internships to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These internships include up to six months of on-the-job training for eligible service members. During this time, participants gain valuable work experience in the civilian sector and build professional networks as they prepare for their transition to full-time civilian work.
As a Certification Engineer, you will research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy and improve cutting edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You'll develop complex aerodynamic components, structures, and systems. Your technical duties involve the design and development, analysis, and test of new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle.
The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Must-haves:
- Currently serving as active duty military and be eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program
- Bachelor's of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or other related discipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Understanding of Computer Aided Engineering tools and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
Preferred:
- Background in Project Management
- Comfortable reviewing information from various engineering disciplines outside of your specialty
- Prior experience with FAA Certification Standards (14 CFR Part 23, 25, 27, 29) and/or Military certification (MIL-HDBK-516) programs
- Experience coordinating certification approvals with the FAA Aircraft Certification Office, ODA's, Delegated Engineering Representatives (DER's)/Unit Members or other certifying authorities
- Experience with reading, reviewing and interpreting technical documentation for accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations
- Familiarity with aircraft flight test
