Full Job Description
The Doctrine Analyst is responsible for providing doctrine subject matter expertise in the Joint Doctrine development and revision process. The JEDD is an integral part of the Joint Staff J7 and is responsible for shaping military readiness by managing Joint professional education policies developing Joint doctrine, and incorporating lessons learned into future force operations. The JEDD updates Joint operational publications and terminology, oversees professional education policy and curriculum standards, and integrates operational insights into training and doctrine publications.

The Doctrine Analyst will:
  • Help develop, assess, and maintain Joint doctrine that supports warfighter readiness and decision-making.
  • Support full doctrine lifecycle, conducting analytical reviews, updating Universal Joint Task List (UJTL) content, preparing briefings and read-ahead materials, supporting working groups, and collaborating with Joint Staff personnel, Combatant Commands (CCMDs), Services, and doctrine communities.
  • Contribute to terminology and allied doctrine research, assist with editing and coordination in tools like Joint Doctrine Development Tool (JDDT), and help sustain key doctrine systems.
  • Ensure doctrine remains accurate, relevant, and aligned with Joint force needs.

Required Experience
  • Active DOD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Bachelor's degree with three years experience OR seven years of warfighting operational experience
  • At least one year of experience in Joint doctrine development
  • Demonstrated success in five or more of the following areas:
    • Subject Matter Expertise in a functional areas such as intelligence, logistics, command and control, cyberspace, space, and planning
    • Experience with fundamental principles which describe and guide proper use of Joint doctrine
    • Experience with Joint principles relating to the assessment and development of Joint and multinational doctrine
    • Experience with the Joint Staff Structure, mission, programs, and organizational relationships
    • Experience with Joint Staff relationships with CCMDs, Services, and DoD Agencies
    • Demonstrated strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
    • Experience with Joint and Service Lessons Learned Systems to conduct research and develop reports
    • Experience with Universal Joint Tasks process and its relationship with Joint Doctrine
    • Strong understanding of modern English grammar usage

Salary Range: $96,000 to $106,000
