Position Overview

IDOC is looking to hire a Corrections Industry Supervisor to supervise staff and instruct/direct individual in custody workers in the proper use of tools, equipment and materials utilized in the Warehouse, Simulator and Logistics Program. In addition, this position will coordinate the production, storage, and distribution of all orders, maintain quality control of all repair work performed, act as staff assistant to Industry Superintendent and report infractions of rules. Essential Functions

• Supervises staff.
• Instructs and directs individual in custody workers in the proper use of tools, equipment and materials utilized in the Warehouse, Simulator, and Logistics Program.
• Coordinates the production, storage, and distribution of all orders.
• Maintains quality control of all repair work performed.
• Acts as staff assistant to Industry Superintendent in the overall operation.
• Report infractions of rules in accordance with Administrative Directives.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires thorough knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years high school or completion of an approved training course.
• Requires two (2) years of supervisory experience in a field related to the position to be filled.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefers at least three (3) years of supervisory experience in logistics.
• Prefers at least three (3) years of experience maintaining workflow in a group setting.
• Prefers at least three (3) years of experience in inventory management.
• Prefers at least three (3) years of experience in management of tools in a correctional setting.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in preventative maintenance of equipment.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience maintaining production and distribution schedules.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in shipping and receiving procedures.
• Prefers fork lift certification.

Conditions of Employment

• Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
• Requires the ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs, regardless of the position held, is prohibited.
• Requires completion of an approved course in guard training within six (6) months of employment.
• Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
• Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
• This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.) requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretary of State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public. All employees required to file a Statement of Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission. (See Executive Order 15-09) Fines and penalties apply to untimely filings.
• Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
