Each youth will receive appropriate, individualized care to improve their health knowledge and their potential for wellness. Responsibilities Duties to include but are not limited to: Under the general direction of the Lead Nurse and the clinical direction of the Physician, provides basic medical services by utilizing professional medical skills to meet a variety of healthcare needs, with ambulatory care as a primary focus. Must be able to evaluate and treat the general medical and health needs of youth. Monitors CQI programs as they relate to patient care. Required Qualifications - Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant in the State of Georgia. - 2 years of previous experience in a clinical setting. Prefer 1 year of experience in a correctional setting. - Good organizational and decision-making skills; good physical and mental health; able to work under pressure; must relate well to patients, security staff, visitors and co-workers. - Functions within the Georgia Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act (Nurse Practitioners) and Georgia Composite Medical Board Rules (Physician Assistants). - Must have current Health Care Provider BCLS Certification, obtained through American Heart or Red Cross Program. - Must be able to lift 50lbs. Normal bending, reaching, stooping. Standing and sitting for long periods of time. Must be able to move quickly in cases of emergency (within 4 minutes). Normal levels of hearing and seeing, if necessary, with corrective appliances. Must be able to perform BCLS. - Security Clearance by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
