DISTRICT TREASURER

Williamsville Central School District

VACANCY INFORMATION & JOB DESCRIPTION: The position of District Treasurer is an Exempt position appointed annually by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools.

QUALIFICATIONS: The candidate must meet the minimum requirements per Section 2102 of the NYS Ed. Law. Preferential consideration will be given to individuals with abilities, skills, & efficiencies exceeding the minimum qualifications, including:
  • Working knowledge of computerized financial accounting software (the District currently uses WinCap software), spreadsheet applications, and the Uniform System of Accounts as prescribed by the Office of the State Comptroller.
  • Thorough knowledge of pertinent education and local finance laws, Commissioner's Regulations, and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) statements.
  • A bachelor's degree with a major in finance, accounting, or a related field; an associate degree with a major in finance, accounting, or a related field; or demonstrated experience in school or other governmental accounting positions with supervisory responsibility.


REPORTS TO: Board of Education; Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Management Services

TYPICAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but are not limited to):
  • Assist the Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Management Services in the daily supervision of accounting for all funds.
  • Assist the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Management Services in the preparation of the annual District budget.
  • Assist the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Management Services in the preparation of quarterly and annual year-end reports.
  • Assist the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Management Services in the preparation of the District's short- and long-range financial plans.
  • Assist the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Management Services in monitoring internal controls of the District's financial systems.
  • Process all banking transactions, including deposits, transfers, wire payments, and ACH transactions.
  • Track grant expenditures, submit revenue requests, and prepare final expenditure reports for state and federal grants.
  • Prepare monthly Treasurer Reports for presentation.
  • Assist in maintaining accounts for Special Aid Fund projects.
  • Monitor capital project expenses and assist with final cost reports.
  • Assist in reconciling cash and investment accounts monthly.
  • Assist in the disbursement and receipt of various funds.
  • Assist in the preparation of State and Federal reports for filing.
  • Prepare the tax warrant and monitor and reconcile tax collections between the county and District records.
  • Document routines and procedures.
  • Reconcile State Aid payments.
  • Prepare for and assist with annual audit functions.
  • Perform such other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Management Services.


COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000, commensurate with experience.
