The Opportunity

Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbott's Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions.

We have an exciting opportunity for a District Manager in our Cardiometabolic business. This position operates in specified markets and geographical territories in support of the Cardiometabolic (CM) business unit's (BU) overall strategic plan. The scope of this position includes management of Cardiometabolic Account Executives within a district of an already established broader sales region. The District Manager will drive the coordination of sales activities within their territory with district distribution partner(s) and in regular communication with their Regional Sales Manager including Marketing, Contracts & Pricing, Finance, and Training and Development.

The District Manager will cover our Southwest Region, which includes the following states: California (CA), Arizona (AZ), Nevada (NV), New Mexico (NM), and Texas (TX).

The ideal candidate would be based within the territory, with a strong preference for candidates located in a major metropolitan area within the region.

What you'll do
  • Focus on district-level execution with the sales activities of the CM Account Executive: coaching, completing territory reviews, and local distributor coordination to achieve sales goals.
  • Travel and provide feedback to the district Team under his/her Supervision, in the field with CM field team members for a minimum of three days per week.
  • Coach the sales team to understand customer needs, to identify sales opportunities at his/her commanded district and to effectively represent Abbott and CMI products in the marketplace as well as negotiate deals, pricing, and customer contract terms to meet the revenue and margin goals of the BU.
  • Manage the performance of the district sales team to meet individual Goals, supporting his/her respective regions.
  • Manage District sales team CRM activities including funnel creation and management.
  • Identify and recruit direct sales professionals as needed to backfill District if any position opens.
  • Drive Distribution engagement in the field to create Demand to support the commanded District.
  • Meet established District / Territory sales goals and objectives while maintaining sales budget.
  • Act as a resource for contract negotiation, pricing, proposal, bid preparation, customer service and customer follow-up supporting his/her region.
  • Assist in the formulation of strategic sales plans and tactics, including annual and five-year plans for his/her respective region.
  • Provide regular sales reports, forecasts and communication with sales and marketing management to represent his/her district./Participate in quarterly business reviews with senior management and oversee regular territory business reviews with Account Executives supporting his district.
  • Manages performance of staff towards department and Company goals, including feedback on performance, appraisals, recommendations for merit increases or necessary disciplinary actions, communication to employees on performance, etc.

Required qualifications
  • BA/BS/BBA with preferred concentration in sales, marketing, nursing, medical technology, or business.
  • 8+ years of successful sales experience.
  • Strong knowledge of strategic selling methods in the clinical market.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a smaller team and drive local regional performance.
  • Ability to travel 50-75% of time including overnights, car and air travel
  • Must have a valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Must meet vendor credentialing requirements; ability to work in physician and hospital settings
  • Proficient computer skills; MS Office


Preferred qualifications
  • 1-3 years' experience managing field sales team.
  • Proven track record of sales performance and success.
  • Diagnostics experience preferred.
  • High performer with "can-do" attitude.
  • Ability to evolve within changing organization.

The base pay for this position is
$99,300.00 - $198,700.00
In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
