Deadline to apply is Wednesday, August 26, 2026, @ 4:00 p.m. or until 50 applications are received; whichever comes first.Under the supervision of the District Registered Nurse (DRN) or assigned supervisor, the District Licensed Vocational Nurse (DLVN) delivers health services designed to meet the medical and physical needs of all students, including those with exceptional needs, in alignment with federal, state, and District regulations. The DLVN supports student health and welfare across the District as needed and serves as a vital link between the school, student families, and community healthcare resources. The DLVN supports the sites, District, and Community Schools Program by ensuring that health-related barriers to learning are identified and addressed through direct care and community coordination. The DLVN maintains and documents required health records and provides appropriate care and referrals for medically fragile or injured students. Responsibilities also include completing required forms and reports-such as those associated with the District Medi-Cal Billing Program-and assisting with the coordination and implementation of state-mandated student screenings and related data collection. The DLVN may be required to provide support at additional school sites as directed. Minimum Qualifications Required to ApplyMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Minimum requirements include graduating from an accredited vocational nursing program or junior college, preferred two years of acute nursing experience, preferably in a setting that works with children. Experience involving public contact, preferably in a school setting. - Support first aid and provide supervision of students, medication, and specialized treatment to provide appropriate care for ill, medically fragile, and/or injured students, including, but not limited to, toileting, feeding tube, colostomy cleaning, tracheotomy care, etc. E
- Assist students and other School/District personnel to provide specialized treatments, monitor medical treatments, and/or administer testing at multiple school sites E
- Maintain health care plans, medical emergency cards, health records (e.g., mandated screening, etc.) to provide information required by legal and professional standards E
- Participate in various meetings and training(s) (e.g., IEPs, 504s) to share reports and/or gather students' data and/or improve skills/knowledge. E
- Accompany a Site team or Community Schools Team for the purpose of home visits to verify the medical status of students and support needed E
- Provide specialized health care and Targeted Case Management in coordination with the DRNs E
- Provide information and workshops on medical treatments for the purpose of educating teachers, students, parents, and the Community on various health subjects in coordination with District procedures (e.g., lice, ringworm, drug prevention, personal hygiene) E
- Refer students requiring further medical attention, under the supervision of the DRNs , to needed medical/dental treatment, counseling, etc., and provide follow-up with Community Schools Program for additional supports E
- Assist as a member of the District's safety team in the development of the annual District Safety Plan E
- Assist other personnel, as needed, to support them in the completion of their health-related work activities E
- Participate in the District Medi-Cal Billing Program and provide coordination and implementation of state-mandated student screenings and data collection E
- Collaborate on immunization requirements with School and District personnel as needed; provide immunizations under the DRNs E
- Provide information between agencies to comply with FERPA/HIPAA E
- Act as a health liaison for the Community Schools program, helping families navigate local healthcare systems and insurance providers E
- Collaborate with the Community Schools Coordinator to identify health trends or needs within the school community E
- Support the coordination of on-site health clinics or mobile health units for Site, District, and Community School Programs (e.g., dental or immunization clinics) E
- Performs other related duties as assigned
While at Site Location:- Administer first aid and provide supervision of students, medication, and specialized treatment to provide appropriate care for ill, medically fragile, and/or injured students, including, but not limited to, toileting, feeding tube, colostomy cleaning, tracheotomy care, etc. E
- Prepare, maintain, and review documentation (e.g., daily health logs, mandated monthly status reports, accident reports, etc.) to provide written support and/or convey information E
- Respond to emergency situations (e.g., injured students, crisis team, etc.) to resolve immediate safety concerns E
- Provide first aid to persons during emergent situations and refer as needed, according to District procedures E
- Maintain the health office environment, including ordering first-aid supplies and equipment, and distributing them as needed; inspection of campus AEDs and first aid kits E
- Administer injections as required by a physician in coordination with the health care plan E
- Report students with contagious diseases to local public health authorities to minimize infection and comply with the law E
- Sanitize work areas (e.g., sinks, counters, cots, etc.) to maintain a healthy environment E
