Full Job Description
Oversees the garage vendor program throughout the FedEx company. Implements policy regarding preventative maintenance procedures, company policies and cost controls. Manages all aspects of the fleet maintenance of company owned equipment including, but not limited to, vehicle specifications, cost analysis/management, warranty and fleet management. Works with station management to ensure Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance needs are met. Supports field/ district operations.

Essential Functions
  • Monitors, audits and inspects completed preventative maintenance inspections (PM's) and repairs of equipment to ensure deadlines are met, quality of repairs meet standards, and repairs are consistent.
  • Monitors and manages maintenance costs pertaining to purchasing, inventory control and outsourcing of repairs.
  • Monitors and analyzes business reports to collect and present data to corporate, district and station management.
  • Works with vendors to discuss services, obtain pricing, discuss alternatives for cost reductions and maintain cooperative relationships and assists in selection of vendors.
  • Oversees and maintains company trailering and switching equipment, makes recommendations for disposal, refurbishment, replacement and spare equipment, including transfers of equipment throughout districts as requested by District Operations Engineering Specialist.
  • Conducts failure analysis and accident investigations on equipment.
  • Manages on-road breakdowns and equipment recovery.
  • Monitors inspections of company-owned and approved equipment to ensure adherence to DOT and FMCSA regulations and company brand standards.
  • Ensures proper contractual follow-up and discussions are completed.
  • Ensures Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection agency (EPA) regulations are adhered to by garage vendors.
  • Ensures company policies regarding operational and safety issues are adhered to.
  • Monitors Business Controls Self Audit (BCSA) compliance and assists in process development.
  • Developing and overseeing control systems to maintain company compliance with applicable legal standards and internal policies.
  • Evaluate the efficiency of controls and improve them, continuously revising procedures, reports etc. to anticipate and address hidden risks or non-conformity issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Education

High School Diploma required.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years of fleet maintenance or maintenance management required. A technical degree in automotive science or related field or ASE certification can substitute for up to 2 years of the required experience

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.

Verbal and written communication skills necessary to explain complex and/or confidential information.

Presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions to groups and/or individuals.

Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and respond to functional needs.

Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions.

Ability to develop effective methods for tracking and monitoring data or information.

Demonstrated experience with fleet business practices and both power and trailer maintenance industry procedures.

Experience directing a mechanic workforce, scheduling maintenance and maintenance computer software.

Working knowledge of state and federal regulations.

Additional Details: The desired location for this position would be Troutdale, OR. Employees will be required to work at the FedEx location five days a week
