Responsibilities

  • Review engineering design packages with clients and conduct customer follow-up
  • Perform scope analysis and uphold project schedules according to client priorities
  • Oversee engineering calculations such as structural analyses and voltage drop calculations
  • Coordinate complex cable/conduit design projects in urban settings, including utility conflict assessments
  • Support construction phases with engineering reviews to ensure compliance with standards

Full Job Description
We are seeking a Distribution Engineering Supervisor in Greenville, SC who is passionate about electric utility design engineering. We're looking for someone who is dedicated to ensuring that every project, no matter how simple or complex, is of exceptional quality. You'll be working directly with clients to make sure that Leidos' reputation for high-quality work is always maintained.

As a Distribution Engineering Supervisor, You can expect to:
  • Provide technical oversight, direction, and support for project teams. This will include work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects, using customer GIS and Work Management systems
  • Assist with supervision of design staff and QA/QC efforts for your team
  • Collaborate with other design leads on broad client issues including schedule adherence and team quality control
  • Review engineering design packages with clients; Perform functional tasks, planning, and/or customer follow-up
  • Perform scope analysis of work assigned and maintain schedule adherence to advocate client priorities
  • Oversee your team's engineering calculations such as: structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker.
  • Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements, assessing and developing large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments, work permit development, easements, and ROW application
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and client design standards have been met.
  • Develop a team and assist in hiring efforts


What Sets you Apart (Background Requirements):
  • A minimum of 2+ years of prior relevant experience either working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company performing design engineering for electric distribution is required
  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET accredited educational institution; Additional/Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
  • Prior experience with structural analysis, guying calcs, cable pulling calcs, coordination of protective devices, and electric demand and fault currents calculations.
  • Ability to provide your own reliable transportation, as some local, customer-related travel may be anticipated (Job-related travel will be reimbursed at IRS-approved rates)
  • Ability to demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills


Preferred Experience:
  • Providing estimated costs, development of a BOM,
  • MicroStation -performing Electrical Distribution design.
  • Work management software and job estimating software.
  • A Formal or informal leadership role
