About the Role:

Reporting to the Director of Operations, Eastern Canada, the Distribution Construction Manager is responsible for leading the safe, efficient, and profitable execution of overhead and underground distribution construction projects. This role oversees field operations, workforce planning, mentorship and development of field staff, project execution, client relationships, and continuous improvement initiatives while working closely with project management teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Qualifications Education
• PLT designation is considered an asset but not a mandatory requirement.
• Formal construction management training from a recognized technical institute considered an asset.
• PMI certification considered an asset.

Experience
• 15+ years of Overhead and Underground Distribution construction experience.
• 10+ years of people management, mentoring and leadership experience.
• Extensive and broad high voltage construction experience.

Skills
• Advanced level of Distribution construction execution and planning
• Detail knowledge of the Alberta electrical network, code and regulations. General knowledge of provincial networks across western Canada.
• Superior construction execution planning skills.
• Ability to coach and mentor field staff.
• Comfortable and proficient with computer software such as excel, MPP and word.

Other
• Must have a valid driver's licence.
• Must speak, read and write English expertly.
• This position is a mix of office and field work. A considerable amount of time will be in the field.

Duties

Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead and support project execution strategies.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop field teams.
  • Support estimating and proposal development.
  • Conduct site visits and ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Participate in project reviews, planning sessions, and client meetings.
  • Support business development initiatives and departmental growth.


Operations & Project Delivery
  • Plan project resources, staffing, and construction priorities.
  • Ensure projects are adequately staffed and equipped.
  • Coordinate with project managers, field supervisors, safety teams, and fleet operations.
  • Monitor project performance, schedules, and construction quality.
  • Support workforce planning, performance management, and training.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
