We are searching for the best talent for a Distinguished Scientist, Biologics Discovery Process Research (BDPR) Integrator to be located in Spring House, PA or Malvern, PA.
Purpose: The Distinguished Scientist, BPRD Integrator will serve as the scientific and strategic leader between Therapeutic Discovery & Supply (TDS) and Discovery teams, enabling seamless end0to0end decision0making for biologics programs and technical platforms. This role is deeply technical and focuses on proactively identifying and mitigating development risks during the discovery phase. The leader will ensure that structural, biophysical, expression, and developability insights are assessed and effectively integrated into Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) strategies and program planning. Additionally, the leader will be tasked with identifying early opportunities to assess knowledge gaps to derisk program development.
They will be responsible for leading platform alignment efforts to ensure data and decisions are translatable across discovery and development and build out knowledge management and sharing systems to integrate knowledge across the teams.
The preferred candidate brings deep scientific expertise in protein structure and developability, strong understanding of CMC development requirements, and a proven ability to influence without authority while navigating complex cross0functional environments.
You will be responsible for: - Leading cross-functional teams to deliver on technical and strategic projects with the focus on ensuring speed to clinic and full translation of data and decisions.
- Building a robust business process to enable continuous learning cycles and knowledge sharing across technical teams in Discovery, Product Development & Supply (DPDS).
- Serving as the TDS BDPR integrator on complex Discovery project teams, aligning strategy, data expectations, and technical risk assessment across Discovery and Development.
- Providing deep scientific guidance on molecule selection, engineering, developability, manufacturability, expression, and protein structure0function considerations.
- Identifying and mitigating CMC, technical, operational, and manufacturability risks early, translating findings into clear program recommendations and mitigation plans.
- Ensuring continuity of scientific rationale and technical context as programs advance from Discovery through candidate nomination and IND0enabling activities.
- Building trusted cross0functional partnerships and influencing decision0making across Therapeutics Discovery (TD), Preclinical Sciences & Translational Safety (PSTS), Therapeutic Areas (TAs), and TDS in matrixed governance and technical forums.
Qualifications/RequirementsEducation:
- PhD in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics Chemical or Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field is required.
Experience and Skills:Required:
- A minimum of 15 years of biopharmaceutical R&D experience spanning both Discovery and Development / CMC functions.
- Deep technical expertise in at least one of the following areas: protein structure, developability principles, and expression considerations and the impact these have on CMC development.
- Strong understanding of end0to0end biologics development, including the scientific and operational needs of CMC.
- Proven ability to shape and implement large cross-functional projects in a matrixed environment to drive meaningful impact to the business.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and scientific storytelling skills.
