Distinguished Engineer (Card Tech)
In this role, you will be responsible for architecting the target state application architecture and providing technical support to the development teams. A continuous focus will be placed on building and improving our platforms to guarantee best-in-class security, performance, maintainability, and usability. This team manages highly available and scalable critical services essential for customer-facing applications. We are currently executing a platform transformation, migrating from legacy systems to a modern technology stack.

What you'll do:- Define and drive technical strategy and roadmap for our systems and platforms that power Credit Card Core systems
- Architect and build highly secure & scalable systems that enable server-driven product experiences across devices, with exceptional reliability and availability.
- Design high-throughput, low-latency services capable of handling millions of concurrent requests.
- Architect enhanced Observability and Monitoring frameworks to enable rapid issue detection, debugging and resolution, across the entire product system stack.
- Provide organizational technical leadership to influence architecture, engineering standards, cross-team strategies, mentoring engineers and driving organization wide platform innovation.
- Leverage proven leadership in driving platform strategy, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and influencing technical direction across the company
Basic Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 7 years of experience in Software engineering and solution architecture
- At least 7 years of experience in Enterprise architecture and design patterns
- At least 5 years of experience developing large scale distributed systems
- At least 3+ years of experience in Cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 10+ years of professional experience coding in commonly used languages like Java, Python or Go
- 8+ years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production support

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Chicago, IL: $244,700 - $279,200 for Distinguished Engineer
McLean, VA: $269,100 - $307,200 for Distinguished Engineer
Richmond, VA: $244,700 - $279,200 for Distinguished Engineer
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
