JOB TITLE: Dist Field Construction Supv

REQUISITION: DIS00XT

DEPARTMENT: Distribution Construction Mgmt - F&M Service Center

LOCATION: Kansas City, MO

PAY RANGE: $94,600 - $126,100

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday; 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Additional hours as specified)

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership of daily work performed by distribution contractors on projects assigned to the resource management group. This will include Large Overhead and Underground construction projects, Civil Projects, Evergy Storm Restoration, pole replacements, failed underground replacement, and service replacement programs. Oversight of other miscellaneous construction projects may be required. Supervisors will ensure all assigned projects are completed on time, within budget, in compliance with current Evergy Construction Standards, and consistent with the defined scope. Effectively manage project budgets and scope change orders to support the department's overall goals. Supervisors are responsible to address any issues related to contractor performance in the field. Performance issues may include, quality of work, missed due dates, customer service issues, and property damage claims. Supervisors will ensure that a high quality of work and schedule adherence are maintained. Supervisors regularly conduct field inspections of all work performed by contactors. Field inspections could occasionally include projects assigned to peers. Supervisor may be asked to assist in remedial actions to correct problems encountered during a project's lifecycle. This position will be responsible for managing millions of dollars annually in contractor related projects or programs.

Primary Duties:
• Continuous field oversight of construction projects.
• Coordinates all aspects of construction and maintenance efforts in the field performed by assigned contract crews.
• Oversee construction to ensure budgets, schedules and standards are met.
• Build and maintain relationships throughout the company.
• Managing project budgets and contributing to the successful financial performance of the Company by identifying cost savings opportunities and documenting achievements.
• Ability to review and understand construction plans, site drawings, and other related engineering materials.
• Effective communication with project stakeholders.
• Promote the current cultural and economic direction of the company.

Education and Experience Requirements:
• This position requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in operations, construction & maintenance, design, or engineering.
• Preference given to applicants with any of the following: Journeyman Linemen status, 2 or 4-year degree in business, engineering, project management or related field, or a minimum of 1 year of front-line leadership experience

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
• The ability to manage multiple, simultaneous and unrelated projects at a high level is a key component of this position.
• Supervisors are expected to support storm restoration efforts over the entire service territory.
• Compliance with all guidelines established by regulators in both Kansas and Missouri.
• Develop positive relationships with all business partners, contractors, IBEW members and leadership, Evergy coworkers, City and State administrators, and Evergy customers.
• The position requires frequent interaction with the following departments: Field Operations / C&M, Engineering, Central Design, Asset Management, Purchasing, Materials, Vegetation Management, Corporate Safety, Claims, Real Estate, Legal, and Accounting.
• The effectiveness of the incumbent is measured by the extent of which project costs are managed, project deadlines are met, and construction quality meets customer expectations.
• The ability to reduce project costs while maintaining quality is essential. In addition, the position calls for an ability to identify, mitigate and manage risk to which the company is exposed.

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:

Valid driver's license required.

Working Conditions: Work is performed both in the office and in the field in all types of weather conditions are required. Travel to other locations within the company, as well as some overnight travel is required. Position requires work beyond normal working hours depending on workload, project deadlines, and service restoration efforts, oftentimes on short notice. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
