Title: Director, YNHH Inpatient APP Services

Yale New Haven Health is seeking an accomplished Advanced Practice Provider leader to serve as the Director of YNHH Advanced Clinical Practice. The Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for inpatient APP services across multiple specialties. Working closely with physician leadership, nursing leadership, APP managers, and operational stakeholders, the Director will help establish consistent, effective, and sustainable APP practice models across the organization.

Responsibilities

• 1. Strategic Leadership and Operational Management:
• 1.1 Partners with the VP/SVP and other senior managers to create, implement, and manage the strategic direction and long-term plans for the YNHH Inpatient APP workforce, focusing on workforce optimization, growth, and sustainable patient care models.
• 2. Matrixed Governance & Collaboration:
• 2.1 Hospital Advanced Practice Providers work in a matrixed environment, with clinical Departments/Divisions/Services collaborating with Director YNHH Advance Clinical Practice in APP performance management, clinical staffing, role optimization, and utilization strategy.
• 3. Workforce Development & Optimization:
• 3.1 Plans and coordinates the recruitment and hiring processes for APPs of each identified Inpatient Service, working closely with clinical departments/specialties to ensure the right candidates are selected and positioned for success.
• 4. Data-Driven Leadership:
• 4.1 Use data analytics to optimize APP performance, track key metrics such as patient outcomes, care access, length of stay, and clinician satisfaction.
• 5. Interprofessional Collaboration:
• 5.1 Foster interprofessional collaboration between APPs, physicians, and other clinical staff, supporting integrated care models that improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
• 6. Quality and Innovation:
• 6.1 Support quality improvement initiatives, collaborating with enterprise Quality leadership and Population Health to improve care quality and outcomes, ensuring the APP workforce contributes to the broader goals of patient impact and operational effectiveness.
• 7. Management and Leadership:
• 7.1 Maintain responsibility for the professional development, clinical competency, and productivity of APPs across service lines/specialties.
• 8. Financial and Business Planning:
• 8.1 Collaborate with the Management Team and Finance in the development and oversight of the annual budget planning process.
• 9. Clinical Responsibilities:
• 9.1 Provides comprehensive care to medicine patients in collaboration with Attending Physicians.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Advanced degree (Master's or Doctorate) in Nursing, Physician Assistant Studies, or a related advanced practice field.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 10 years of clinical APP experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role strongly preferred.

LICENSURE

APRN or PA, currently licensed in the state of Connecticut.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Strong knowledge of hospital operations and APP workforce management, with experience in helping departments define and implement care models. Ability to collaborate across departments and services, with a focus on aligning care models with clinical and operational goals. Excellent strategic planning, communication, and leadership skills.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

Travel required between YNHH campuses.
