Full Job Description
UNC Rex Healthcare is seeking an experienced nurse leader to manage the various Wound Care programs across the system in addition to supporting the VARN and Dialysis teams. This full time position will be responsible for managing the operations, staff, budget, reimbursement, quality management, performance improvement, patient experience, marketing and sales for these areas. The ideal candidate will have prior management experience in a similar healthcare program operations setting.

Summary: The Director is responsible for the successful implementation and ongoing management and overall success of the inpatient and outpatient Wound Care Programs in addition to nursing support areas including Vascular Access (VARN), Dialysis, and other areas as assigned. This includes responsibility for operations; staff management; budget; reimbursement; quality management; performance improvement, patient experience, and marketing and sales.

Responsibilities:

Directs the development and administration of the budgets in assigned areas. Recommends type and amount of resources required. Allocates resources based on departmental and organizational goals and objectives. Develops Master Staffing Plans for all areas. Reviews financial and operational data evaluating quality of service, workload, revenue and expenses. Takes corrective action as appropriate. Monitors salary and non-salary budgets for all assigned areas. Prepares Wound Care Audit for analysis and evaluation of Program status with senior leadership, and develops and implements action plan for changes/improvements as appropriate. Acts as member of hospital nursing leadership team, developing and maintaining client relationships that maximize success of programs. Assures compliance with all applicable accreditation and governmental agencies , including conducting and documenting educational in-services/competencies necessary. Participates in workgroups as assigned to improve quality, operations, and/or experience metrics.

LEADING PEOPLE: Responsible for recruiting and hiring of staff. Responsible for managing team including, but not limited to performance evaluations, performance management; staff development, and adherence to policies and procedures. Organizes and conducts regularly scheduled staff meetings to ensure open communication and enhance operational efficiencies. Leads people toward meeting the organization's vision, mission, and goals. Provides an inclusive workplace that fosters the development of others, facilitates cooperation and teamwork, and supports constructive resolution of conflicts. Delegates assignments, clarifies expectations and holds others accountable for achieving results related to their area of responsibility. QUALITY MANAGEMENT: Provides direction for the delivery of cost effective, quality patient care based on established regulatory, professional and organizational standards within the context of the operating vision. Responsible for ensuring that quality metrics, including treatment completions and healing outcomes, fall within acceptable parameters. Monitors and ensures timely review of clinical charts by appropriate nursing and medical staff.

REIMBURSEMENT: Develops effective relationship with and maintains ongoing communications with hospital billing managers, financial counselors, and other key hospital reimbursement personnel. Maintains the charge master. Develops, implements, and monitors patient self-pay plans in conjunction with financial counselor, reimbursement coordinator if and where appropriate. Ensures the timely and accurate entry of department charges. Regularly audits random patient bills for accuracy and completeness. Regularly communicates with physician office billing person to ensure appropriate reimbursement for the physician. In conjunction with Reimbursement Department, works to obtain 3rd party payor coverage for services, procedures and supplies via coordination of appeals and presentations. Supports hospital efforts to maximize program reimbursement.

MARKETING EDUCATION of Ambulatory Wound Program: Develops, implements, and manages a marketing plan and budget. Conducts sales calls to physicians and other potential referral sources. Develops, schedules, and conducts presentations and in-services to targeted groups. Conducts ongoing inter-departmental and hospital marketing activities. Establishes and manages effective phone inquiry response system. Develops, implements, and manages advertising and other promotional programs in conjunction with Hospital Marketing Department. Interfaces with hospital marketing/PR Department available resources.

  • Registered Nurse in the state of NC.
  • Possess certification from an accredited certification program
