Director, Total Rewards and M&A Location: Houston, Texas (preferred) or United States - Remote Model of Work: Hybrid if located in Houston, TX or Remote with Travel if the work location is United States - Remote Our People team is looking for a Director, Total Rewards and M&A to lead the design and delivery of compensation and benefits programs for our global workforce, while also serving as the HR lead on merger and acquisition activity. This is a high-impact, dual-mandate role suited to a total rewards professional who thrives on both the steady cadence of annual programs and the fast-moving demands of deal work. You'll own global compensation and benefits strategy across our key markets - the US, Canada, Norway, Colombia, and India - and you'll partner closely with Corporate Development, Legal, and Finance to lead HR due diligence and integration whenever we acquire or are acquired. Leading a team of three, you'll bring rigor, market insight, and a builder's mindset to a global software company operating in the oil and gas industry.
Responsibilities Total Rewards Strategy - Own and evolve the global total rewards strategy, ensuring programs are competitive, equitable, and aligned to business objectives across all regions of operation.
- Serve as the primary total rewards advisor to HR leadership and business stakeholders on pay and benefits philosophy.
Compensation - Lead annual compensation program design, including the merit increase cycle, promotion cycle, and annual budget planning.
- Own executive compensation and equity/long-term incentive programs, including plan design and coordination with Legal and Finance on grant administration and governance.
- Benchmark compensation programs against market data across all countries of operation, using survey participation and market pricing to keep pay structures current.
- Maintain and evolve global job architecture, pay structures, and salary bands.
- Monitor pay equity and compliance with local pay transparency and compensation regulations across the US, Canada, Norway, Colombia, and India.
Benefits - Lead annual benefits design and open enrollment across all key countries, partnering with brokers, carriers, and local advisors to ensure programs meet employee needs and cost targets.
- Benchmark benefits programs against local market practice in each country and recommend design changes as needed.
- Manage relationships with benefits vendors, brokers, and consultants globally.
M&A Leadership - Serve as the HR lead for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, coordinating due diligence and integration activities across the HR team (Talent, HRIS, Payroll, L&D, and Employee Relations).
- Lead HR due diligence, including review of target company compensation, benefits, employment agreements, and organizational structure to identify risks, costs, and integration considerations.
- Develop and execute HR integration plans, including harmonization of pay and benefits programs, systems integration, and workforce transition planning.
- Partner with Corporate Development, Legal, and Finance throughout the deal lifecycle, from diligence through close and post-close integration.
Team Leadership - Lead and develop a team of three total rewards professionals, building capability and ensuring consistent, high-quality program delivery.
And other duties as assigned. Requirements - 15+ years of progressive HR experience, with substantial depth in global compensation and benefits design and delivery.
- Demonstrated experience leading or significantly supporting M&A activity from an HR perspective, including due diligence and integration; experience in a private equity-backed or PE-owned environment strongly preferred.
- Experience managing compensation and benefits programs across multiple countries
- Working knowledge of executive compensation and equity/long-term incentive plan design.
- Experience with compensation and benefits benchmarking and market pricing
- Proven people leadership experience, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate market data and financial considerations into program design decisions.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience advising senior leadership and cross-functional partners
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field
Preferred Skills - Familiarity with the software industry and/or energy sector a plus, though not required.
Additional Details - Salary commensurate with experience ($175,000 - $200,000 US Dollars) with bi-weekly pay via direct deposit. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith.
