Full Job Description
The Director, Total Rewards & HRIS is responsible for leading the administration, execution, compliance, and continuous improvement of the Company's compensation, benefits, payroll, and HRIS functions. Reporting directly to the CHRO, this role ensures the successful implementation of Total Rewards programs while maintaining operational excellence, regulatory compliance, data integrity, and a positive employee experience. This position serves as the operational leader for compensation administration, benefits administration, payroll, and HRIS while partnering closely with the CHRO on Total Rewards initiatives. The Director translates compensation and benefits strategies into scalable programs, processes, and employee-facing solutions that support a growing, private equity-backed organization. While this role plays a critical role in supporting Total Rewards initiatives, ownership of compensation and benefits strategy, philosophy, plan design, and major program decisions remains with the CHRO. Key Responsibilities Compensation Administration: - Administer and execute compensation programs, salary structures, incentive plans, and pay practices established by the CHRO and ELT - Conduct compensation benchmarking, market pricing, and competitive analyses - Support annual merit increase, promotion, and compensation review processes including bonus programs - Maintain job architecture, salary structures, pay grades, and compensation documentation - Provide compensation analysis and recommendations to support business and talent decisions - Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local pay regulations - Partner with HR leadership and business leaders on compensation-related initiatives and inquiries Benefits Administration: - Oversee the administration of all employee benefits programs, including health and welfare, retirement, leave-related benefits, and wellness programs - Manage relationships with benefit vendors, brokers, and third-party administrators - Support annual benefits renewal and open enrollment processes - Monitor benefits utilization, trends, and cost drivers and provide recommendations to the CHRO - Develop and execute employee communications and education related to benefit offerings - Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulations Payroll Leadership: - Direct payroll operations for a multi-state workforce of approximately 3,300 employees - Oversee prevailing wage, and certified payroll administration - Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and reporting - Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local wage and hour requirements - Develop and monitor payroll controls, audits, and process improvements - Partner with Accounting and Finance to ensure accurate reporting and reconciliation and applicable payroll tax work. HRIS Leadership - Serve as the functional owner of the Company's HRIS platform (currently Dayforce) - Lead system enhancements, upgrades, integrations, testing, and optimization efforts - Ensure data integrity, security, governance, and reporting accuracy - Oversee HRIS workflows, employee self-service functionality, and system configuration - Partner with the Director, Talent Strategy & Analytics to support workforce reporting, dashboards, and analytics initiatives - Evaluate and implement technology solutions that improve efficiency and enhance the employee experience Compliance, Reporting & Governance - Ensure compliance with compensation, payroll, benefits, and HRIS-related regulations - Oversee audits, reporting requirements, and internal controls - Support annual reporting requirements, including EEO-1, benefits audits, payroll audits, and other regulatory filings - Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and documentation related to Total Rewards administration and HRIS governance - Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting payroll, benefits, compensation, and HR technology Leadership & Team Development - Lead and develop team members responsible for payroll, benefits, compensation administration, and HRIS - Establish service standards, performance expectations, and continuous improvement initiatives - Assess organizational needs and recommend resources, structure, and capabilities necessary to support future growth - Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer service, and continuous learning Strategic Partnership - Serve as a trusted advisor to the CHRO and HR leadership team on compensation, benefits, payroll, and HRIS matters - Support M&A activity through HRIS integration, payroll transition, benefits administration, and employee onboarding activities - Assist with HR budget development, forecasting, and workforce-related financial analysis - Leverage technology, analytics, and process improvement opportunities to enhance HR effectiveness and scalability Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field required - CCP, CEBS, PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or related certifications preferred - 8-10+ years of progressive experience in compensation, benefits, payroll, HRIS, or Total Rewards leadership roles - Experience leading payroll operations in a multi-state environment required - Experience administering, prevailing wage, and certified payroll strongly preferred - Experience with HRIS platforms, preferably Dayforce - Experience in a private equity-backed, growth-oriented, multi-location organization preferred - Demonstrated success leading teams and driving operational improvements Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Strong understanding of compensation administration, benefits administration, payroll operations, and HRIS management - Working knowledge of applicable employment, payroll, and benefits regulations - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Advanced Excel and reporting capabilities - Experience utilizing AI-powered tools and technologies such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and other business productivity platforms to improve efficiency, reporting, analysis, and employee experience - Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills - Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities - Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment - High degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality Other Duties This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, or skills required for the position.
