Position Summary...
The Director, Technology Operations leads the strategy and execution of a new organization responsible for measuring and improving the Walmart Marketplace buyer experience. This role establishes the technical platform, operating model, and quality measurement framework needed to identify product quality issues, listing inaccuracies, and ratings and reviews integrity risks. The Director fosters strong cross-functional partnerships, influences business decisions through trusted data and insights, and drives continuous improvements across the Marketplace ecosystem. By combining advanced analytics, AI, and expert investigation, this position improves customer trust, reduces buyer disappointment, and delivers measurable improvements in Marketplace quality at scale.

Our team is dedicated to enhancing Marketplace quality at Walmart by integrating advanced analytics, AI, and customer-focused research. Collaborating across Product, Engineering, Trust & Safety, Operations, and Marketplace, we develop systems, metrics, and capabilities that address key item-related issues impacting buyers and sellers. This cross-functional approach enables millions of customers to shop confidently every day. The team emphasizes operational excellence, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement to deliver measurable business value and support Walmart's commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.

What you'll do:
  • Build and lead a new organization focused on improving the Walmart Marketplace buyer experience.
  • Develop the strategy, technical capabilities, and metrics to identify product quality, listing accuracy, and ratings & reviews integrity issues.
  • Partner across Product, Engineering, Marketplace, Trust & Safety, and Operations to turn insights into measurable improvements.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, data scientists, analysts, and product leaders.
  • Communicate Marketplace quality trends and business impact to executive leadership through trusted, data-driven insights.


What you'll bring:
  • Proven experience building and leading data-driven products, platforms, or programs in Marketplace, Trust & Safety, Customer Experience, or a related domain.
  • Strong technical understanding of large-scale data, analytics, AI/ML, and measurement frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success defining metrics, translating insights into action, and influencing executive decision-making.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams across Product, Engineering, Operations, and business stakeholders.
  • Strong people leadership with a track record of building high-performing, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for different audiences.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. Programs range from high school completion to bachelor's degrees, including English Language Learning and short-form certificates. Tuition, books, and fees are completely paid for by Walmart.

Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to a specific plan or program terms.

The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00 - $264,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
