Director, Talent Management (Non-Union)

Full-time, 40 hours/week

Location: Hamilton (John St), Mississauga (Derry) or Vaughan (Cityview), Hybrid

Status: This position is to fill a current vacancy

Salary Grade: 20 ($176,982- $221,228 annually)

As Director, Talent Management, you will lead the development and execution of integrated talent strategies that support organizational growth, workforce readiness, and employee success. Partnering closely with senior leaders across the organization, you will help shape the employee experience through innovative approaches to talent acquisition, leadership development, succession planning, engagement, learning, and inclusion. This role plays a key part in ensuring Alectra attracts, develops, and retains a future-ready workforce while fostering a culture where individuals can thrive and contribute their best.

What you'll do

Talent Strategy & Workforce Planning
  • Develop and lead an enterprise-wide talent management strategy that aligns talent acquisition, leadership development, engagement, and retention with organizational goals.
  • Partner with senior leaders to identify talent priorities, strengthen workforce readiness, and support succession planning initiatives.
  • Provide insights on workforce trends, risks, and opportunities to inform strategic business decisions.
  • Champion a consistent and inclusive talent vision that supports Alectra's long-term success and employer value proposition.

Talent Acquisition & Employer Brand
  • Provide strategic direction for enterprise talent acquisition programs and practices.
  • Strengthen and evolve Alectra's employer brand to attract diverse, values-aligned talent.
  • Leverage workforce analytics and talent metrics to improve hiring outcomes and support equitable decision-making.
  • Align workforce planning strategies with future capability and business needs.

Leadership Development & Learning
  • Develop and implement leadership development and succession planning frameworks.
  • Establish competency and capability frameworks that support growth and performance across all levels of the organization.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning through coaching, mentoring, digital learning, and professional development programs.
  • Build sustainable pipelines for critical and emerging leadership roles.

Employee Experience & Inclusion
  • Design and implement programs that support attraction, development, engagement, retention, and career growth.
  • Measure and enhance employee engagement through data-informed strategies and continuous feedback.
  • Embed equitable, accessible, and inclusive practices throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Oversee onboarding, career transition, and offboarding programs that support employee success and engagement.
  • Champion employee well-being and mental health initiatives across talent programs and leadership practices.
  • Advance Equity, Diversity and Inclusion priorities throughout the talent ecosystem and measure progress against organizational goals.

Governance, Operations & Continuous Improvement
  • Establish talent governance frameworks, policies, and programs that support compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, consistency, and employee experience.
  • Represent Alectra within industry and professional associations, sharing leading practices and strengthening organizational reputation.
  • Manage departmental budgets, resources, and strategic projects responsibly and effectively.

Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of HR professionals.
  • Foster collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous learning across the team.
  • Build organizational capability through effective talent development and succession practices.

Who you are

Education & Technical Knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • CHRL designation preferred and membership in HRPA in good standing.
  • Valid Class G driver's licence with the ability to maintain it in good standing.

Experience
  • 7-10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, including designing and implementing talent strategies, leading organizational development initiatives, and supporting culture transformation.
  • Demonstrated experience advising senior leaders and leading enterprise-wide programs that influence attraction, engagement, leadership capability, and retention.

Compensation
  • At Alectra, Compensation for non-union positions is determined within a defined salary range for each role. Placement within the salary range depends on several factors, including qualifications, relevant experience, and alignment with the role's requirements. We consider internal equity and market competitiveness to ensure fairness and consistency across the organization.
  • This position is eligible to receive an annual incentive payment based on a combination of individual and Company performance.

  • Hybrid: This role is based in a hybrid environment, allowing for a mix of remote and in-office work to support collaboration and business needs.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment with minimal exposure to disagreeable conditions.
