The NA & EU Engineered Items Commodity Supplier Development Leader is a senior leader within GSD, responsible for the performance, capability, and strategic direction of a global commodity team. This remote role (with travel) sets and executes the end-to-end supplier development strategy across regions and leads team members in the US and Europe/France. As the global point of accountability, the leader ensures supply base maturity, operational resilience, and value realization across a challenging commodity portfolio. This role requires someone who can stay composed under pressure and hold suppliers and internal teams accountable. While the role may occasionally handle supplier escalations, the real excitement lies in developing and empowering the team, creating a culture of growth, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What You Will Do:

Commodity Team Leadership:
  • Lead and manage a global, cross-regional commodity supplier development team
  • Set and deploy strategy for supplier performance, risk mitigation, and capability advancement across all sites and programs within the commodity
  • Own and oversee commodity-level portfolio management including GMRE exposure, product lifecycle status, supplier performance, and spend distribution
  • Drive manufacturing process standardization and execution within the supply base, ensuring alignment with technology and operational excellence goals
  • Champion product knowledge maturity, value engineering, and cost improvement programs across the commodity supply base
  • Implement and sustain part/part family/commodity-level risk identification, FMEA (including DFMEA), and mitigation strategies


Strategic Engagement and SBU Partnership:
  • Act as the Global Supplier Development sponsor for assigned Strategic Business Units (SBU), serving as the primary interface between GSD and SBU executive leadership
  • Represents the commodity team in senior level forums, ensuring supplier development priorities are aligned with BU goals and strategic initiatives (e.g., profit recovery, BCC transitions)
  • Operate as a matched pair with BU supply chain leadership to co-own goals, drive aligned priorities and resolve escalations
  • Provide a data-driven, balanced voice of the supply base in BU decision-making processes
  • Drive SBU KPIs alignment and prioritization across commodity actions to ensure resources and initiatives are focused where most impactful
  • Support business travel to supplier sites as needed - minimum of 50% of time


Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum of 14 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years' experience
  • Demonstrated leadership of global teams and success in cross-functional, matrixed environments
  • Analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data sets and KPIs


Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Site Lead/Ops Manager experience or a proven track record in supplier performance improvement and development
  • University degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong manufacturing and quality systems expertise, including FMEA, PFMEA, APQP, Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Action planning, and performance tracking tools
  • Experience in regulated or complex manufacturing industries (aerospace, defense, automotive, industrial systems)
  • Six Sigma or Lean certification (Green Belt or higher)
  • Executive-level communication and influencing skills with the ability to lead through ambiguity and drive accountability across regions and functions

The salary range for this role is 186,200 USD - 353,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
