Job Description

This position provides leadership for the clinical strategic planning functions at UT Health San Antonio. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Director partners with executive and clinical leadership to develop and execute clinical enterprise growth strategies. This role leads clinical service line planning, develops clinical growth plans, supports planning for clinical volume growth, and assesses site-of-care strategies across hospital outpatient department (HOPD) and freestanding settings. The Director oversees the alignment of strategic data with strategic initiatives, business planning, and pro forma development for key clinical strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Leads clinical service line planning in partnership with clinical, academic, and hospital leadership, including service line assessments, prioritization, and multi-year development roadmaps.
  • Supports development of clinical growth plans aligned with institutional strategy, incorporating market intelligence, competitive positioning, and financial feasibility.
  • Supports planning for clinical volume growth, including demand forecasting, capacity assessment, provider recruitment planning, and ambulatory network development.
  • Assesses site-of-care planning for hospital outpatient department (HOPD) and freestanding settings, evaluating regulatory, reimbursement, and financial implications to inform facility and real estate decisions.
  • Directs the development of business plans and pro formas for key strategic projects and capital investments.
  • Leads market intelligence and competitive analysis to inform executive decision-making, including market share, demographic, payer mix, and utilization analytics.
  • Supports clinical strategic planning cycle in collaboration with the Chief Strategy Officer, including plan alignment, goal tracking, and reporting to executive leadership.
  • Evaluates clinical partnership, affiliation, and business development opportunities, including physician alignment and joint venture models.
  • Presents analyses, business cases, and recommendations to executive leadership, deans, and other senior stakeholders.
  • Supervises, develops, and mentors strategic planning staff.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
