Position Summary

The Strategic Operations role supports the development, prioritization, and execution of practice-level and enterprise-aligned strategic plans that drive operational effectiveness, growth, and long-term sustainability. This role brings structured problem-solving, operational performance insight, and execution support to evaluate strategic opportunities, assess operational risk, and translate priorities into actionable plans.

The role is accountable for bringing clarity, structure, and actionable recommendations to complex operational and strategic challenges. This position requires strong business and financial acumen, executive-ready communication, and the ability to connect practice-level realities with broader Network objectives. The Director, Strategic Operations serves as a trusted thought partner who can identify emerging risks, deliver decision-ready insights, support business case development, and help leaders prioritize the work that will have the greatest impact.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic operational plans aligned with US Oncology Corporate's overall business objectives and oncology market trends.
  • Oversee the identification, evaluation, and implementation of process improvements and best practices across clinical operations, revenue cycle, and practice management.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiency, standardize workflows, and enhance patient experience within oncology practices.
  • Analyze operational data, identify key performance indicators (KPIs), and develop actionable insights to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Manage and mentor a team of operations professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Collaborate closely with clinical leadership, finance, IT, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of operational strategies.
  • Evaluate and manage vendor relationships related to operational services and technologies within the oncology space.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations and company policies.
  • Prepare and present reports on operational performance, strategic initiatives, and project progress to senior leadership.
  • Identify opportunities for organic growth and support integration efforts for new acquisitions or partnerships.


Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field; Master's degree (MBA, MHA) highly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, with at least 5 years specifically within oncology.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing strategic operational initiatives that drive significant results.
  • Strong understanding of oncology practice operations, including clinical workflows, revenue cycle management, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a data-driven approach.
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal), presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% as needed to various US Oncology Corporate sites.
