Position Summary

McKesson is seeking a Director, Strategic Customer Onboarding. Leads a team responsible for implementing new business where the work requires a high degree of oversight, project management, cross-functional coordination, and/or support for exceptionally complex implementations. This role leads both a people manager and individual contributors in Project Manager roles, helping the team deliver clear plans, strong execution, timely escalation, and a consistent customer implementation experience.

Accountabilities
  • Building, maintaining, and improving implementation project plans and managing execution for each supported segment.
  • Leading a team structure that includes a manager and individual contributors in Project Manager roles, with clear expectations, coaching, and accountability for delivery.
  • Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships to understand needs and tailor processes to meet and exceed those needs.
  • Maintaining alignment with peers within Customer Implementation and SO&G to define and maintain rules and scope of engagement between implementation teams.
  • Facilitating team accountability to deliverables and service levels through regular and ad hoc analysis and reporting.
  • Building short-term and long-term strategies for the team, communicating the strategy clearly, and incorporating it into team goals and deliverables.


Key Responsibilities
  • Leads the Strategic Onboarding team, including a manager and Project Manager individual contributors, by championing projects, providing oversight and driving escalations as needed to support project success.
  • Develops team members and leaders to grow skillsets, expand capabilities, and maximize performance and potential.
  • Provides a single point of escalation for implementation efforts within scope.
  • Provides management oversight to projects from original concept through final implementation. Interfaces with all areas affected by the project, which may include customers, Sales, DC Operations, Master Data, and other departments such as Marketing, IT, and other business partners.
  • Maintains executive and stakeholder visibility to projects within scope to drive alignment, transparency, and oversight.
  • Ensures the team uses consistent project management practices, tools, and reporting routines to support predictable delivery and clear ownership.


Education & Minimum Requirements
  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred.
  • Typically requires 12+ years of professional experience and 4+ years of management experience.


Critical Skills
  • 12+ years of professional experience, preferably working with operational execution and/or project or program management, and 4+ years of direct management experience, including experience leading managers and/or multi-layered teams.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams, including managers and individual contributors.
  • Strong attention to quality, detail, and confidentiality.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to interpret needs across clients and stakeholders with different levels of knowledge, expectations, and roles.

Additional Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience with Smartsheet, Salesforce, SAP
  • Data reporting and visualization systems experience; Tableau experience is a plus.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously and keep teams focused on priorities.
  • Ability to manage effective meetings by keeping discussions on track, focused and inclusive of active participation.
  • Ability to communicate with external customers confidently and professionally.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, be proactive and work with limited supervision in a high-stress, fast-paced, quality-focused environment.
  • Establishes procedures and processes that support process improvement for customer transitions and implementation work.


Work Environment
  • Able to travel domestically 10% of the time.
  • This role is a hybrid position. The selected candidate is expected to work on-site at our Las Colinas office a minimum of two (2) days per week, with the remaining days worked remotely. Specific in-office days may be designated based on team needs and business priorities.
