What work will you perform?The Director of Strategic Capacity Development is responsible for identifying, establishing, and growing strategic relationships with top asset-based transportation providers to capture and secure capacity at competitive pricing levels. In this role you will develop and deploy best in-class relationship management strategies, establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and other metrics to facilitate enhanced carrier compliance practices while leading a team.
Essential Responsibilities: - Leadership responsibilities for a team of 1-5 to include hiring, training, scheduling work, and performance appraisals
- Develop and execute a strategic capacity plan for new and existing business throughout the Landstar network
- Support key business projects to ensure quality carrier capacity is secured through executed contracts
- Increase and strengthen capacity relationships to support current and new business
- Match business to capacity needs
- Drive team results in the execution of network bids to identify carriers and pricing that meet business requirements
- Mitigate risk by evaluating capacity qualifications to ensure they meet business requirements
- Provide market intelligence to Landstar by monitoring market conditions and rates
- Oversee Capacity Development Managers successful negotiation of rates and capacity commitments
- Establish and host carrier quarterly business reviews
- Provide development to team of Capacity Development Managers
- Oversee carrier performance management as tracked by the Capacity Development team
Required Minimum Experience and Education:- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university or equivalent experience
- Ten years' experience in the transportation or logistics industry
- Seven years' experience purchasing North American ground transportation and/or other logistics services
- Five years of leadership experience overseeing purchasing, transportation or logistics operations, or analytics function
Preferred Experience and Education:- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or Logistics.
- Certified Supply Chain Professional or Certified Logistics Transportation Distribution (ASCM/APICS), or Certified Transportation Professional (NAPM/NITL)
