Director, SponsorshipsPosition SummaryMLB Players, Inc. (MLBPI) is seeking a strategic, commercially minded leader to manage and grow its sponsorship activation and revenue business. This role sits at the center of partner relationships, player marketing, and monetization-owning key accounts, driving activation strategy, and unlocking incremental revenue through player-driven platforms.
Director, Sponsorship will interface across league partners, clubs, and agency relationships, ensuring best-in-class execution while identifying opportunities to expand revenue, increase partner value, and scale MLBPI's sponsorship model.
Responsibilities
MLB Official Partners (Account Ownership & Revenue Management)- Lead day-to-day relationships with MLB Official Partners (e.g., T-Mobile, Anheuser-Busch, Ford)
- Develop, sell, and execute integrated programs across players, content, and events
- Drive revenue growth through upsells, expanded player usage, and new asset development
- Manage the MLB sponsorship dept relationships to foster positive relationships with partners and MLB staff
- Ensure all contractual deliverables are fulfilled with a focus on quality and value
- Lead business reviews and ROI storytelling to strengthen renewals and growth
Group Player Rights (Revenue Ownership)- Support development and management of strategic sales agency partnerships
- Develop pricing models, packaging, and positioning of inventory
- Partner with MLB Clubs to expand adoption and drive incremental use of players
- Identify new use cases and categories for player rights monetization
- Serve as MLBPI contact for external agencies for sponsorship collaboration
- Contribute to deal structuring, pricing, and partner materials
Strategy & Partnership Marketing Operations- Partner with VP, Partnerships to evolve and expand MLBPI's sponsorship commercial strategy
- Develop new activation platforms leveraging players, content, and events
- Support sales narratives, proposals, and go-to-market materials
- Track KPIs and improve internal processes to drive efficiency and scale
- Monitor trends in NIL, athlete marketing, and content monetization
Content & Activation Monetization- Support PI content strategy and the development of player-led content aimed at heightening player participation, creating partner value and revenue opportunities
- Collaborate with content and production partners to ideate and execute campaigns
- Support content-related upsell and standalone sales opportunities
- Track performance and optimize partner KPIs and commercial outcomes
Qualifications- 5 to 7 years in sponsorship sales, partnerships, and sports marketing
- Experience managing brand relationships and integrated campaigns
- Strong understanding of NIL, athlete marketing, and sponsorship landscape
- Proven ability to drive revenue growth through partnerships and activations
- Ability to operate across revenue management, strategy, and execution
- Strong commercial instincts and partner-first mindset
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
Reports to: VP, PartnershipsSalary Range: 160k-$170k
