Primary Purpose

Assist the executive director of special services to ensure provision of required services for students with disabilities; work to ensure individualized education plans to meet the needs of all students and ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local requirements. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.

Qualifications

Education/Certification/Licensure

Master's degree from an accredited college or university

Valid Texas teaching certificate

Special education endorsement preferred

Valid Texas mid-management/principal preferred

T-TESS Appraiser Certification
Special Knowledge/Skills

Effective communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Knowledge and understanding of IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act)

In-depth knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data

Ability to coordinate district functions

Ability to manage budget and personnel

Strong organizational skills

Understanding of the individual needs of students with disabilities
Experience

Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in teaching and/or assessment in special education

Previous campus or district-wide leadership experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Assume decision-making responsibility in the absence of the executive
  2. Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs to ensure that support services for students with disabilities are effective in achieving their objectives.
  3. Develop and oversee ongoing professional learning opportunities for district staff to ensure a quality learning environment and system knowledge of effective practices for the provision of special education and related services.
  4. Provide assistance to staff in evaluating, selecting, or developing instructional materials to meet students' needs.
  5. Develop and oversee effective strategies for parental
  6. Develop and oversee Extended School Year
  7. Facilitate and supervise the Behavior Support Center (BSC) by coordinating job-embedded professional learning, resources, supplies, and instructional materials.
  8. Provide leadership for instructional modifications and accommodations that enhance student learning and improve test results.
  9. Monitor campus/district progress on statewide assessments relative to students receiving special education services.
  10. Oversee the district's special education management
  11. Assist executive director in systematically monitoring the effectiveness of special education programs and services.
  12. Assist executive director in establishing or modifying goals and objectives for the special education department.
  13. Assist executive director in ensuring staff implements school improvement efforts that are consistent with federal and state guidelines.
  14. Analyze and recommend to the executive director facility and equipment
  15. Implement and monitor compliance with federal and state rules and
  16. Assist executive director with the development, maintenance, and revision of the district's operating guidelines.
  17. Facilitate conflict/resolution discussion with administrators, parents, teachers, staff and/or
  18. Participate in the recruitment, recommendation, and orientation, and evaluation of faculty and staff as appropriate.
