Full Job Description
THE ROLE:

As a Director of SEO, you are the technical and strategic lead for the craft, responsible for the quality, process, and profitability of our organic search offering. You will steer a team of experts to deliver pioneering work for global brands, ensuring that DEPT® remains at the forefront of search innovation-from AI-driven discovery to complex technical ecosystems. You are equal parts mentor and growth-driver, playing a key role in winning new business and refining the methodologies that allow us to create "what's next" in the search landscape.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Refine and scale the agency's SEO methodology, ensuring our approach to technical, content, and authority-building is best-in-class and future-proof.
  • Lead high-stakes new business pitches, clearly articulating the value of organic growth invention and technical SEO to prospective C-suite stakeholders.
  • Oversee the strategic roadmap for a portfolio of accounts, ensuring all work is high-impact, delivered on time, and aligned with client business objectives.
  • Partner with Business Development and Client Services to scope complex SEO projects, ensuring appropriate resource allocation and department profitability.
  • Navigate complex, multi-agency and multi-stakeholder environments, ensuring SEO is a foundational component of the broader marketing mix.
  • Champion the integration of emerging tech, such as Generative AI and advanced data science, into the SEO planning and execution process.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Associate Directors and Managers, fostering a culture of "relentless curiosity" and high-performance collaboration.


WHAT YOU BRING:
  • 8-11 years of experience in SEO strategy and leadership, with a track record of driving significant organic growth for Fortune 500 or global enterprise brands.
  • Proven experience in a senior agency leadership role, with a focus on team management and craft development.
  • Deep technical expertise in SEO, including experience with large-scale site migrations, headless architectures, and international SEO.
  • Strong commercial acumen-you understand how to scope projects for profitability and how to identify organic growth opportunities within a client portfolio.
  • Exceptional presentation and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • A "better together" mindset, with experience collaborating across Media, Creative, and Tech teams to deliver holistic digital experiences.
  • Active involvement in the SEO community and a passion for staying ahead of the curve in an ever-evolving search landscape.

The anticipated salary range for this position is listed below. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, expertise, physical location, and organizational impact. This is based on a 40-hour workweek and leveling. Keep in mind, we're flexible.

US Remote Range

$120,000-$145,000 USD
