Job Summary

The Director, Scientific Applications Delivery is responsible for the entire Scientific Application Portfolio including Computer System Validation. As senior leader he/she will work with GIS & Business leadership to develop the 5 year Scientific Portfolio Vision and Strategy.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with the GIS and Business Leadership and other senior leaders to develop a global Digital Strategy in the context of the business strategy
  • Drive the development and adoption of digital leadership capability throughout the organization
  • Provide global strategy and leadership on solutions that are practical, flexible, scalable, reusable, strategic and are achieved through the application of industry proven architectural principles, standards and governance
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining the global vision, strategy, and program to ensure information assets and technologies are adequately protected.
  • Oversee and direct efforts in identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining processes across the enterprise to reduce IT risks.
  • Develop and drive global enterprise applications delivery teams to consistently improve speed of delivery and ensure information flows in teams are appropriate to facilitate workflow, reduce cycle time and deliver high quality solutions
  • Develop and oversee the global compliance programs governing vendor qualification, internal cGMP inspection, audit support, computerized systems validation program including change control and SOD management.
  • Provide strategic direction to harmonize compliance programs across all Global Sites
  • Work collaboratively with enterprise leaders to set priorities and accomplish cross-functional objectives exercising leadership and judgment to achieve balance between information risks and business impacts and needs to reduce adverse impacts on the organization to an acceptable level
  • Manage relationships with major vendors and service providers to ensure they're cost-effectively and meet the needs of the organization
  • Develop and establish strong relationships with all areas of GIS to champion efficiency and resiliency
  • Act as an Agile Champion by establishing high-performing teams, removing organizational impediments, understand & continuously improve how work gets done and by creating a productive physical environment for agile teams to focus and work together
  • Participate and lead performance conversations with employees, including monthly one on ones, to connect on performance; check in on employee's progress toward achieving Objectives, offer support and remove barriers; and, communicate and revisit performance expectations to reinforce and encourage high performance culture and a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Utilize open, honest, two way communication to build trust-based relationships with employees, business partners and direct leader while continuously improving leadership capabilities by personally seeking feedback and development.

Job Requirements

  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business or equivalent
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to balance strategic vision and execution capabilities to deliver results
    • Demonstrated experience in governance, IT and GXP controls
    • Demonstrated experience in providing global leadership
    • Demonstrated experience working with large enterprise systems for both IT and OT across numerous application platforms, including internally hosted, externally hosted, and SaaS models. Strong Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS), Chromatography ( Empower), Quality Management Systems (QMS), Scientific Data Repository Systems ( SOP, etc.)
    • Excellent organizational, leadership, decision-making and communication skill
    • Must have a high level of interpersonal and communication skills and an exceptional ability to work well with others to effectively interact with internal customers and external vendors and agencies
    • Experience with managing virtual teams
    • Strong empowerment leadership skills, allowing front line IT team members to make decisions as needed with the guidance of senior management
    • Superior verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong knowledge of Canadian, US and EU regulatory guidelines
    • Solid business acumen required in terms of both executive relationship building and budget/P&L Management.
  • Experience
    • 10+ years as a Senior Manager/Director within an IT environment.
    • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry is required.
