Full Job Description

THE BIGGEST risk IS STANDING still.

The Opportunity
Are you a strategic, forward-thinking leader with a passion for risk management and building strong, resilient organizations?

We’re looking for a Director, Risk Management to lead second-line oversight and help shape how risk is identified, understood, and managed across the Bank. In this influential role, you’ll guide the evolution of our enterprise risk management framework—ensuring it’s robust, forward-looking, and aligned to our growth strategy and regulatory expectations.

You’ll be at the center of it all—partnering with senior leaders, providing independent challenge, and translating complex risk insights into clear, actionable guidance. From operational and non-financial risk to emerging areas like cyber, third-party, and conduct risk, you’ll ensure we’re not only protected—but prepared.

If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact, strengthen risk culture, and support disciplined growth at scale, we’d love to meet you.

Who You Are

You’re a confident, thoughtful leader who knows how to balance challenge with collaboration.

  • You bring deep expertise in risk management, including operational and non-financial risks.
  • You’re a strategic thinker who understands how risk frameworks support business growth.
  • You’re a strong leader who builds, coaches, and empowers high-performing teams.
  • You’re comfortable operating in complex, regulated environments and applying sound judgment.
  • You’re a skilled communicator who can influence senior stakeholders and Board-level discussions.
  • You bring curiosity, accountability, and a continuous improvement mindset to everything you do.

How You’ll Make an Impact

In this role, you’ll lead and evolve the Bank’s risk management capabilities—while acting as a trusted advisor across the organization.

Lead Enterprise Risk Management

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve the enterprise risk management framework.
  • Ensure alignment with the Bank’s Risk Appetite Framework and regulatory expectations.
  • Maintain risk policies, governance, and standards that support effective oversight.

Strengthen Risk Oversight & Challenge

  • Provide independent oversight and challenge across business lines and risk activities.
  • Monitor risk exposures, trends, and emerging issues—escalating where appropriate.
  • Support clarity and effectiveness across the three lines of defense.

Advance Operational & Non-Financial Risk Management

  • Oversee frameworks related to operational risk, business continuity, incident management, and KRIs.
  • Monitor key non-financial risks, including cyber, third-party, and conduct risk.
  • Drive continuous improvement in control effectiveness and operational resilience.

Deliver Strategic Risk Insights

  • Develop clear, forward-looking risk reporting for senior management and the Board.
  • Translate complex risk data into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Support enterprise stress testing and scenario analysis to inform decision-making.

Lead, Mentor, and Build Capability

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing risk team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Support succession planning and talent development across the function.

What You Bring to the Table

  • 10+ years of experience in risk management within a financial services environment.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and driving results.
  • Post-secondary education in business, risk management, or a related field.
  • A recognized risk management designation is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory expectations and the Canadian financial environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate, and lead at a senior level.
