Job Description:

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a(n) Director, Retirement, located in New Brunswick, NJ, United States.

The Director, Retirement is a key leader within HR Total Rewards, responsible for shaping and delivering retirement programs that attract, retain, and support a highly talented workforce. This role provides strategic direction for retirement plan design, governance, compliance, financial management, communications, and vendor oversight, while ensuring programs remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with business objectives.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence the future of employee financial wellbeing during a transformative period for DePuy Synthes. The Director will partner closely with HR, Finance, Legal, and business leaders to enhance the employee experience, drive operational excellence, and advance a modern retirement strategy that supports organizational growth and employee success.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the design, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of U.S. retirement and savings programs.
• Develop retirement strategies that support talent attraction, retention, employee wellbeing, and business objectives.
• Ensure retirement plans comply with all applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee relationships with plan administrators, recordkeepers, trustees, consultants, and other retirement vendors.
• Partner with Finance, Legal, Payroll, and HR stakeholders on retirement plan governance, reporting, and risk management.
• Direct retirement plan communications and employee education initiatives to improve awareness and engagement.
• Monitor market trends, legislative developments, and competitive practices to inform program enhancements.
• Establish and track key performance indicators, operational metrics, and service delivery standards.
• Manage plan audits, fiduciary reviews, regulatory filings, and compliance documentation.
• Lead and develop retirement team members while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing environment.
• Manage operational aspects of the function, including budget, compliance, workforce planning, and succession planning.

Qualifications

Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required.
• Master's degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent) in a related discipline preferred.

Experience and Skills:

Required:
• Minimum of 10-12 years of progressive experience in retirement, benefits, total rewards, finance, HR, or related functions.
• Demonstrated experience leading retirement program strategy, administration, and governance.
• Strong knowledge of defined contribution plans, retirement plan operations, fiduciary practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience managing external vendors, consultants, and complex stakeholder relationships.
• Proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and drive cross-functional initiatives in a matrixed organization.
• Strong analytical, financial, problem-solving, decision-making and communication skills.

Preferred:
• Experience leading retirement strategy within a large global organization.
• Knowledge of pension plans, global retirement programs, and financial wellbeing initiatives.
• Experience with retirement plan audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory filings.
• Demonstrated success implementing program enhancements and process improvements.
• Experience leveraging data analytics and market intelligence to inform Total Rewards strategies.
• Familiarity with M&A, organizational transformation, or large-scale business change initiatives.
• Professional designation related to benefits, retirement, HR, or finance.

Other:
• Language: English proficiency required. Additional languages are a plus.
• Travel: Up to 10-15% domestic travel may be required.
• Certifications Preferred: CEBS, CRPS, CFP, SHRM, HRCI, or similar professional certifications.

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.
