DescriptionThe Director of Respiratory Care is responsible for the overall leadership, clinical oversight, regulatory compliance, and operational management of respiratory therapy services within the organization. This role ensures delivery of high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care services in compliance with ACHC accreditation standards, CMS guidelines, and applicable federal/state regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical leadership for respiratory therapy services, including oxygen therapy, CPAP, BiPAP, and other respiratory care programs.
- Oversee patient assessments, equipment setup, care planning, and ongoing clinical follow-up to ensure outstanding patient outcomes.
- Lead regulatory compliance with Medicare, ACHC accreditation standards, state regulations, and respiratory care practice requirements.
- Direct quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives by monitoring clinical outcomes, patient safety, and operational performance metrics.
- Manage day-to-day respiratory operations, including equipment management, documentation, workflow optimization, and billing compliance.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop respiratory therapists through orientation, competency assessments, coaching, and performance management.
- Collaborate with billing teams to ensure accurate documentation, reimbursement compliance, and audit readiness.
- Build strong relationships with physicians, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and other referral partners to support program growth.
- Promote a culture of safety by overseeing infection prevention, equipment maintenance, and risk management activities.
Requirements- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.
- Current state licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (as applicable).
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 15 years of respiratory care experience, preferably in home care or DMEPOS environment.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership or management experience.
- Experience with ACHC accreditation and DMEPOS compliance strongly preferred.
