Full Job Description
The Director - Registration and Scheduling is responsible for the oversight of the Central Registration and Scheduling departments, to ensure prompt patient access to hospital and ambulatory services. This includes the oversight of day-to-day operations associated with the gathering of demographic, medical, insurance and financial information; completion of medical necessity forms and collection of copays at time of service. It also includes the oversight of call intake and ancillary/ambulatory scheduling.

The Director provides guidance and coaching to their Managers and caregivers. They are responsible for ensuring the Registration and Scheduling departments are providing positive customer relations while obtaining elements mandated by Health Information Services and Patient Financial Services, in compliance with regulatory requirements. The Director will ensure their Managers are implementing and maintaining policies/procedures, standard operation practices, directing the caregivers, ensuring training is completed, coordinating department operations with other departments and efficiently completing caregiver scheduling.

The Director - Registration and Scheduling, observes quality monitoring and training and participates in denial management initiatives. The Director is responsible for patient satisfaction and for attaining and maintaining adherence to prescribed regulatory standards. The Director will be responsible for management of the department expenses, completion of annual budgets and providing explanations of variances in expenses and productivity.

The Director will participate in special projects and other assignments as directed.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Min five years of registration and / or scheduling experience required. Advanced degree preferred. Experience in a medical setting preferred. Yrs of experience can be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Medical terminology experience required.
  • EPIC system electronic medical record knowledge preferred.

Required Length and Type of Experience
  • Customer service experience required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience required.
  • Five (5) years management experience, preferred.
  • Call center/medical office experience considered.

Required Licensure or Certification
  • None

Required Physical and Environmental Demands
  • Requires full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Hearing and vision to normal limits with correction.
  • Ability to operate office machines with or without adaptive devices.
  • Requires sitting for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds.
