Full Job Description
Directors run a market portfolio and ensure that individually successful Practices become a coherent, scalable Domain. Directors maintain key client relationships, lead key (integrator) opportunities, and coordinate engagements across Domains with other Directors. The Director, Rail Vehicle Advisory is responsible for the development and oversight of individual practices including - Fleet Strategy, Rolling Stock Procurement, Vehicle/System Engineering, Propulsion & Energy Systems, and Vehicle Maintenance & Facilities. Key Client Relationships • Interacts with client organizations on a leadership level. • Resolves issues raised by Client Coordinators in their Domain. • Maintains a good understanding of customer satisfaction for owned project engagements. • Enable Principals to expand their client network and to position early for project opportunities. Leads Principals and Drives Domain Performance • Accountable for project success within their Domain. • Drives, and is accountable for, Domain growth, both for existing Practices and investments in starting up new Practices. • Fosters cross-selling success across Practices of their Domain, and in coordination with other Domains. • Encourages active networking and fosters the development of strong client relationships. • Responsible for managing and balancing productivity across their Principal-led groups, within targets and governance set by EVP Consulting. • Accountable for initiating appropriate performance-management actions in cases of persistent underperformance. • Responsible for sales pipeline in their Domain, balancing pipeline across Principals, challenging weak opportunities, ensuring delivery realism, and coaching business development/ sales behavior. • Coaches Principals to follow project management standards (owned projects) and to effectively lead and develop their team. • Responsible for calibration of project feedback across Principals, challenging outlier ratings, surfacing high performers and hidden talent, and ensuring consistency across teams. • Works with Principals to encourage further development of Principals' subject matter expertise. Leads Key Opportunities and Programmatic / Integrator Engagements • Strategically pre-positions DB E.C.O. North America's service portfolio with focus clients. • Lead programmatic / integrator opportunities that require coordination across multiple Practices or Domains, acting on behalf of all Domains, unless the engagement is designated as a large-scale programmatic engagement owned by EVP Program Development & Mobilization. • Acts as Pursuit Lead and remains accountable for pursuit strategy, client approach, required Practice commitments, and conversion into a paid engagement. The Director may delegate pursuit tasks, but remains accountable. • Accountable for the overarching client contract, program-level client coordination, integration across Project Owners, and resolution of issues that cut across Practices or Domains. • Collaborate with other Directors on programmatic / integrator engagements, committing expertise and capacity from their Domains where required and resolving cross-domain issues in the interest of the overall engagement. Coordinates across Domains • Collaborate with Directors to develop a strategy for organic business development. • In partnership with Principals, oversee annual promotion and compensation planning, ensure consistent leveling standards across the Consulting Group, and highlight high-performing talent requiring targeted advancement support. Coordinate resource needs across all Domains and solve resourcing conflicts involving Principals of different Domains. • Together with the EVP Delivery Excellence, define L&D skill needs by level, shape curriculum priorities, participate as speakers with their Principals, ensure engagement and follow-through, and confirm program outcomes. Responsible, jointly and together with EVP Delivery Excellence, for developing and implementing minimum standards for project management (responsibilities of Project Owners), client coordination (responsibilities of Client Coordinators), and opportunity development (responsibilities of Pursuit Leads). • Collaborate to offer a learning and career path across Domains and Practices for generalist consultants. We offer an annual gross salary between $240,000 and $280,000 + bonus(USD) for full-time employment, depending on professional qualifications and experience.
