We are searching for the best talent for a
Director, Project & Portfolio Management, Biosurgery (PPMG), who will be responsible for managing a team of Project Heads, responsible for cross-functional collaboration and execution to ensure new product program delivery. Key success metrics for this role are meeting project objectives including, but not limited to, time to market, cost of goods (COGS), development costs, quality metrics, and ability to meet projected demand. This will be a
hybrid position (3 days on-site, 2 remote) based in Raritan, NJ.
Purpose:The role will serve on the Biosurgery R&D Leadership Team advocating for projects with cross-functional peers and acting as a governance escalation point. This team member will have career development, resource management, and oversight responsibilities for a team of site-based and/or remote direct reports. This role requires strong collaboration skills and partnership with R&D, Global Strategic Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Affairs, Supply Chain, Quality, and Finance. The role also requires strong expertise in medical device and biologics development, including a strong understanding of global regulatory and clinical requirements.
You will be responsible for:- Manages Project Heads (PHs) supporting Biosurgery innovation programs.
- Responsible for all executional aspects of Biosurgery NPD programs.
- Accountable for program tracking, acceleration, and risk identification and mitigation for Biosurgery programs
- Raises concerns to the VP, Biosurgery R&D and/or Operating Committee (OC) to ensure issues are being addressed and elevated to the appropriate level
- Owns input and operational expertise to aid the Head of PPMG for management reviews, including scenario development, trade-off implications, and evaluation of improvement opportunities
- Partners with the VP, Biosurgery R&D, for Innovation Goals & Objectives (G&O) formation across the organization, ensuring alignment to key platform initiatives, goals, and strategies through shared G&Os and reporting of progress
- Works with the Biosurgery R&D Leadership Team to develop leadership team charter, scope, meeting cadence, and governance processes. Ensures agenda-driven meetings, effective decision making, and consistent governance standards across Biosurgery
- Monitors and tracks action items and plans to ensure rapid follow-through and progress against commitments
- Accountable for securing trade-off decisions to help the team manage the triple constraint (time, scope, resources) and for appropriate escalation of challenges across functions
- Collaborates with cross-functional members to champion team effectiveness, driving a culture of empowerment, urgency, accountability, achievement, and decision making. Ensures an environment of open discussion, constructive challenge, and proactive risk management
- Communicates effectively with all organizational levels, including executive leadership
- Leads Biosurgery portfolio reviews, promoting program achievements and increasing visibility of key projects across the organization and with senior stakeholders
- Engages with project teams early in the innovation lifecycle to define and socialize the value proposition of programs and products
- Ensures project team alignment with Biosurgery platform and portfolio strategies
Qualifications / Requirements:- Minimum Bachelor's degree in engineering or scientific discipline required
- Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience required
- Prior experience delivering innovation programs is required
- Project management experience with projects having materials, biologics, or clinical focus is required
- Understanding of Global Regulatory/Clinical requirements of complex medical devices is required
- Demonstrated success in partnering and influencing across a matrix environment is required.
- Medical device experience with Class II & III Medical Devices is required
- Demonstrated effective change leadership and management skills is required
- Strong technical expertise and business acumen within strategic planning and execution is highly preferred
- Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) required; JIRA or SmartSheet preferred
- Requires up to 10% domestic and international travel
- Prior people leadership experience is required

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :$150,000.00 - $258,750.00
