Position Summary...Sam's Club is hiring a strategic operator to bring clarity, structure, and momentum to our Experience Strategy & Innovation team. This role sits at the center of it all-partnering closely with leadership to ensure the right work is prioritized, teams are aligned, and ideas turn into measurable outcomes.
You'll act as a force multiplier for the organization: building the operating system that allows research and strategy to scale. From creating intake and prioritization frameworks to organizing institutional knowledge and driving cross-functional initiatives, your work will directly impact how effectively we deliver against our most important experience bets.
If you thrive in ambiguity, naturally step into leadership gaps, and know how to turn chaos into clarity-this is your role.
What you'll do...- Build the team's operating system from the ground up by creating scalable processes for project intake, prioritization, and execution and bringing structure to a fast-moving, high-impact portfolio of work.
- Provide immediate operational relief and long-term leverage by organizing and maintaining a centralized view of all initiatives, ensuring leaders have real-time visibility into progress, risks, and tradeoffs.
- Act as a Chief of Staff to Experience Strategy leadership by translating discussions into action and driving follow-ups, assigning ownership, and ensuring critical work moves forward without friction.
- Ensure the right work gets done, not just more work by evaluating incoming requests, aligning them to strategic priorities, and establishing clear decision-making frameworks.
- Stand up and scale knowledge management systems by organizing, indexing, and operationalizing case studies, research, and insights so teams can easily access and build on past work.
- Lead and support complex, cross-functional initiatives by stepping in as a program lead when needed aligning stakeholders, managing timelines, and ensuring outcomes are delivered.
- Operationalize storytelling and communication by creating consistent ways to share progress, insights, and impact across stakeholders by elevating the visibility of the team's work.
- Embed design and research operations best practices by introducing tools, workflows, and governance that enable service design and innovation efforts to scale effectively.
What you'll bring...- A proven track record of building structure in ambiguous environments-you've created processes, not just followed them
- Experience operating as a Chief of Staff, Design Ops, Research Ops, or Strategy Ops leader, ideally supporting senior design or innovation executives
- Strong ability to prioritize across competing demands and bring clarity to what matters most
- A bias for action and ownership-you're a self-starter who naturally steps in to solve problems without waiting for direction
- Experience managing or supporting cross-functional programs and stakeholders, including senior leadership
- Ability to translate strategy into execution, ensuring ideas don't stall out
- Strong organizational instincts-you know how to build systems for knowledge management, project tracking, and team operations
- Experience with service design, design strategy, or research environments (or close partnership with those teams)
- Excellent communication skills, especially in storytelling, synthesizing insights, and driving alignment
- High attention to detail paired with the ability to see and manage the big picture
