Full Job Description
Location: This is an onsite role based at Nextiva's Scottsdale headquarters (9451 E. Via de Ventura, Scottsdale, AZ 85256). Working together onsite strengthens how we operate, enabling faster decisions, clearer communication, and stronger execution, so you can make a greater impact and move work forward with speed and clarity.

In-Office Expectation: This role is expected to work onsite five days per week, supporting a highly collaborative, in-person team environment.

Nextiva is looking for a Director of Product Marketing to own the case for why customers choose us. This role owns how we win: who we are the best answer for, what makes us the stronger choice, and how that story shows up everywhere a buyer meets us. You will build it from real customers and real deals, then make it the version every rep, every page, and every analyst hears. You will lead a small team of two to three product marketers and report to the Chief Marketing Officer. A traditional product marketing background is not required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the Market Thesis: Build and defend a clear view on why customers choose Nextiva, segment by segment. Who buys, what they pay for, and what tips the decision.
  • Get the Evidence Yourself: Talk to customers, sit in on live deals, and study win/loss up close. Your point of view comes from what buyers actually say, not from a positioning workshop.
  • Make the Story Stick: Own the messaging and value propositions for the portfolio. Write the hardest ones yourself, test them against real sales conversations, and sharpen them around what wins.
  • Pick the Launches That Matter: Tier launches honestly. A few get full investment and a real narrative. Most get a lighter touch. You make that call and you defend it.
  • Arm the Sales Floor: Give reps narratives and competitive material simple enough to use under pressure. Sales Enablement runs the training. You own whether the story works.
  • Know the Competition: Keep a current read on the three or four competitors that actually show up in our deals, and what to do when they do.
  • Build the Team: Lead a small team of product marketers, set the quality bar, and keep them pointed at the work that moves revenue.

Who You Are
  • Close to the Customer: You can tell us what customers said, because you talked to them. You would rather spend a day on live calls than a week with a research deck.
  • Deep on Product: You get hands-on, form your own opinion, and push Product on the gaps.
  • A Genuinely Good Writer: You turn a messy market into one page a stranger understands immediately.
  • Strong Market Instinct: You have a real view on where this category is going and what it means for us.
  • Commercially Accountable: You have owned a number. Pipeline, win rate, attach rate, something.
  • Focused: A small team covering a broad portfolio wins by choosing. You pick the few things that move revenue, commit to them, and say no out loud to the rest.
  • A Working Leader: You write the hardest positioning yourself. If you want a role where you assign work and review it, this is the wrong one.
  • Willing to Disagree: You make the case in plain language to Product, Sales, and the executive team, and people move.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • No traditional product marketing background required. We are deliberately open to people from product management, strategy, growth, sales, consulting, or running their own company.
  • B2B SaaS experience. Communications, CX, contact center, or AI background is a plus, not a requirement.
  • Real customer-facing experience, with answers you turned into a decision.
  • Comfort with numbers. You can size an opportunity, read win/loss data, and reason about the economics of a deal.
  • Technical fluency. You can get hands-on with the product, work directly with engineers and product managers, and use modern AI tools in your own work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication. You make a complicated case simple. We will ask for a writing sample.
