Job Title: Director, Private Brands Sourcing

General Function:

The Director of Private Brands Sourcing leads sourcing strategy, supplier partnerships, and cost optimization efforts across Hy-Vee's entire Private Brands portfolio. This position is responsible for overseeing the sourcing calendar, managing end-to-end RFP processes, and reporting on market cost trends and savings opportunities. The Director drives sourcing innovation to support private label growth, ensures compliance with regulatory and internal standards, and fosters strong relationships with key suppliers. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including Category Management, Quality Assurance, Legal, and Supply Chain to ensure sourcing activities align with broader business objectives and brand strategies

Accountable and Reports to: AVP, Private Brands Procurement

Direct Reports: Private Brands Sourcing Specialists; Private Brands Quality Control Specialists

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the Private Brands sourcing calendar and execution of all RFP events across Grocery, HBC, GM & Specialty, and Perishables categories.
  • Leads the design, launch, and evaluation of competitive RFPs; ensures consistency, transparency, and alignment with business goals.
  • Analyzes market cost trends, identifies cost drivers, and provides regular reporting on cost control opportunities and sourcing performance.
  • Implements strategic sourcing frameworks to support long-term private label growth, margin improvement, and supply chain resilience.
  • Builds and maintains high-performing supplier relationships; leads high-level supplier negotiations to ensure competitive pricing, service, and quality.
  • Sources and vets new suppliers to expand innovation capabilities, diversify supply base, and support sustainability or diversity sourcing initiatives.
  • Collaborates with Category Management and Product Development teams to ensure alignment between sourcing decisions and brand growth strategies.
  • Oversees supplier onboarding processes, ensuring that contractual, regulatory, and quality standards are met before new suppliers go to market.
  • Guides cross-functional collaboration between Legal, QA, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams during sourcing and contract finalization.
  • Tracks, reports, and communicates key sourcing KPIs to leadership, including cost savings, contract compliance, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Identifies process improvements and technology opportunities that increase sourcing efficiency and transparency.
  • Represents Private Brands in strategic business reviews and contributes to enterprise-wide sourcing and procurement initiatives.


Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field required
  • 10-12 years of progressive experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management.
  • Experience with private label or retail sourcing strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and delivering cost savings, supplier performance, and growth outcomes.


Physical Requirements:

Must be physically able to perform sedentary office work, including occasional travel to supplier or retail locations.
