Your Opportunity:

The Director, Financial Reporting & Revenue provides strategic leadership and oversight for the organization's financial reporting (including operating and capital expenditures), accounting operations, and compliance functions. This role is accountable for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information to support executive decision-making, Provincial reporting requirements, and organizational accountability. As a key member of the finance leadership team, the Director establishes and maintains the financial reporting frameworks, internal controls, and accounting practices aligned with Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS), Government of Alberta requirements, and applicable legislation. The role ensures that financial processes, systems, and reporting structures support transparency, consistency, and stewardship of public funds across the organization.

Description:

The Director leads the preparation, analysis, and review of internal and external financial reporting, including monthly and quarterly financial statements, Board and committee reporting packages, forecasts, and variance analyses. This includes providing clear, concise interpretation of financial results, identifying trends, pressures, and risks, and delivering actionable insights to senior leadership to support strategic and operational decision-making in a healthcare environment. This position has overall accountability for period-end and year-end close processes, ensuring coordinated, efficient operations across programs and corporate services. The Director ensures adherence to established timelines, strengthens financial controls, and drives continuous improvement in reporting processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and audit readiness. This role also leads the preparation of the organization's annual financial statements and supporting documentation in alignment with public sector requirements in addition, the Director provides leadership and oversight of general accounting functions, revenue recognition, reconciliations, and the integrity of financial data. The Director serves as the primary liaison for internal and external audit activities, including coordination with the Office of the Auditor General and other external auditors, as applicable. The role ensures audit readiness, facilitates timely information sharing, supports resolution of audit findings. The Director provides direction, mentorship, and professional guidance to the financial reporting and revenue teams, fostering a high-performing, collaborative environment. This includes supporting staff development, succession planning, and building capacity within the team to meet the evolving needs of Primary Care Alberta.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of a post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Mathematics, Economics, or a related discipline. Professional accounting designation (i.e. CPA), or master's degree or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, and other related finance disciplines. Thorough understanding and working knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards, financial reporting requirements, internal controls, and audit and compliance practices. Experience providing strategic financial advice, analysis, and recommendations to senior leaders and executive stakeholders. Proven leadership experience, including staff supervision, coaching, and professional development. Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically and systematically. Ability to plan and prioritize work, allocate resources, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines. Experience leading or supporting projects, process improvements, or change initiatives. Proven ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with internal teams, senior leaders, auditors, government ministries, and other stakeholders. Broad knowledge of finance processes and practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, and experience with financial systems and reporting tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

Financial experience in a Health Care environment. Experience in assisting on complex audits.
