The
Pharmacy Director for Acute Care oversees all inpatient pharmacy operations across Deaconess Health System. This role is responsible for strategic leadership, pharmaceutical care programs, drug distribution, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and personnel management. Ensures high-quality, cost-effective, and consistent pharmacy services aligned with hospital and system goals.
Essential Responsibilities- Operational Leadership - Directs acute care pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with accrediting bodies and regulatory agencies. Develops and enforces policies to support patient safety and quality care.
- Strategic Direction - Establishes departmental vision, plans and evaluates programs, and integrates pharmacy services into system-wide initiatives.
- Financial Management - Prepares and manages operating and capital budgets, monitors productivity, oversees formulary management, negotiates contracts, and evaluates programs for cost-effectiveness.
- Performance & Quality Improvement - Leads CQI activities, tracks performance metrics, ensures safety and compliance systems are in place, and drives continuous improvement.
- Staff Leadership - Recruits, hires, evaluates, and develops pharmacy personnel. Defines performance expectations, supports staff education, and fosters a healthy work environment.
- Customer & Stakeholder Engagement - Collaborates with administration, physicians, and other departments. Responds to patient concerns, supports service recovery, and builds loyalty through communication and problem-solving.
- Committee & System Participation - Participates in hospital committees, quality teams, and system initiatives. Serves as a consultant for joint ventures.

Education Requirements- Required: BS Pharmacy or PharmD
- Preferred: MBA or MHA
Experience Requirements- Required: Minimum 3 years pharmacy management
- Preferred: 5+ years hospital pharmacy experience
