Full Job Description
This role will cover both AHN Wexford Hospital as well as AHN Grove City Hospital GENERAL OVERVIEW: The Director of Perioperative Services is responsible for the day-to-day operations, where applicable by entity, for the Operating Room, Recovery Room, Endoscopy Lab, Central Sterile Processing, Ambulatory Surgery, Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiology and Pre-Admission Testing. This includes operational and capital budgeting for these areas, as well as safety and quality initiatives, human capital development, and growth. This position is accountable to the Vice President of Perioperative Services, with dual reporting responsibilities to the hospital executive team. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 30 Leads, mentor, and develops a high-performing team of perioperative nurses and support staff. Provides regular performance feedback, coaching, and training opportunities. Cultivates a positive, inclusive, and diverse work environment that values teamwork and recognizes individual contributions. Develops and implements programs to reward and incentivize staff. Promotes staff engagement through participation in surveys (Core Behavior Survey, NDNQI Nurse Satisfaction Survey) and provides coaching and action planning support to managers based on survey results. Leads and supports the development and ongoing operation of a Shared Governance model across all departments, empowering staff to participate in decision-making. (20%) 30 Directs all clinical services and program development for the Operating Room, Recovery Room, Endoscopy Lab, Central Sterile Processing, Ambulatory Surgery, Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiology and Preadmission Testing., where applicable by entity This includes staffing, scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management. (20%) 30 Builds and maintains strong working relationships with physicians, other department directors, and hospital leadership. Effectively communicates departmental performance data and strategic plans to key stakeholders. Collaborates with surgeon and anesthesia physician leadership to develop and implement initiatives to drive operational excellence and efficiency (15%) 30 Establishes and maintains high standards of quality and patient safety. Implements and monitors programs to reduce infection rates, improve patient outcomes, and enhance the overall patient experience. Actively participates in the organizations quality improvement initiatives. Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory standards and accrediting body requirements (e.g., The Joint Commission). (15%) 30 Champions the mission, vision, and values of Allegheny Health Network (10%) 30 Develops and manages the departmental budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and fiscal responsibility. Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial performance and identify areas for improvement.(5%) 30 Evaluate and implement new technologies and processes to improve efficiency, enhance patient care, and reduce costs. (5%) 30 Independently plans, organizes, and executes large-scale projects, managing resources effectively and meeting deadlines. (5%) 30 Other duties as assigned (5%) QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 30 Masters degree (M. A.) OR equivalent; OR in Masters degree program with completion plan 30 Bachelors of Science in Nursing 30 Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
