Director, PeopleOps

Location: Waltham, Massachusetts

Work Arrangement: Hybrid - 2 days/week in Office

Report to: Chief People Officer

Opportunity for Impact

We're looking for a Director of People Operations to lead and modernize the operational backbone of our People function. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this newly created role will lead a global team across the US and India. This role will own the core operational pillars that keep our employees supported, paid, compliant, and well cared for - while bringing a forward-leaning mindset on how AI and automation can elevate the work of the People team.

This is a role for someone who lives our "Where Heart Meets Hustle" ethos - bringing genuine care for the people we support alongside the drive and discipline to deliver operational excellence at pace. You should find real meaning in the work of People Ops itself: making a new hire's first day great, getting payroll exactly right, helping an employee navigate a leave or a visa matter with empathy and confidence - because in this work, people matter. And you should be equally energized by the chance to bring AI and automation into how we operate, so the team can spend more time on the human moments that matter most.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Team leadership - managing, coaching, and developing a global People Ops team across the US and India.
  • Payroll and benefits. Own payroll and the full benefits lifecycle across US, Canada and India - including plan design, annual renewals, open enrollment, and day-to-day administration - ensuring accuracy, compliance, and an excellent employee experience.
  • HRIS ownership and systems strategy. Own the ADP roadmap and broader People tech stack - focused on getting more from what we already have through configuration, automation, and integrations. Evaluate new tools, including AI-enabled solutions, where there's a clear case.

  • Onboarding and offboarding - designing and operating processes that make new hires feel welcomed and set up to succeed, and that handle departures with consistency and care.
  • Leave administration. Own US FMLA, parental leave, disability, and other in-country leave programs end-to-end, ensuring compliance and a supportive employee experience.
  • Immigration - managing visa, work authorization, and global mobility matters in partnership with internal stakeholders and external counsel.

  • People data, reporting, and analytics. Own People Ops dashboards, headcount and operational reporting, and the data foundation that supports executive and Board reporting. Identify opportunities to automate and elevate insight-generation.
  • Partnership across People Experience. Partner closely with HRBPs and the broader People Experience team to deliver a consistent, high-quality employee experience - including co-owning our newly created salary structure and leveling framework with HRBPs. Partner with Finance, Legal, and IT as core cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Policy ownership and development - owning the employee handbook and core people policies, evolving them as the business grows and laws change, and ensuring they are clear, current, and consistently applied.
  • Compliance - staying ahead of regulatory requirements across the geographies we operate in, and ensuring our practices, documentation, and audits are buttoned up.

Professional Qualifications

  • Experience. 8+ years of progressive experience in People Operations, HR Operations, or Total Rewards, including 3+ years leading teams. Direct ownership across payroll, benefits, onboarding/offboarding, immigration, leave, and compliance - ideally in a multi-country environment (US, Canada and India strongly preferred).
  • Education. Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Certifications (preferred). SHRM-SCP, SPHR, CPP (Certified Payroll Professional), or CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist).
  • Systems. Hands-on experience with ADP is strongly preferred. Familiarity with broader HR tech (ATS, performance, learning, ticketing/HR service delivery platforms) is a strong plus. Be technically curious and able to partner effectively with IT and vendors.
  • Efficiency and AI orientation. Demonstrated track record of driving operational efficiency through process redesign, automation, and systems improvements. Experience evaluating, piloting, or deploying AI tools in an HR context is a significant plus.
  • Compliance knowledge. Strong working knowledge of US employment law and compliance; familiarity with Indian labor and statutory requirements highly preferred.
  • Global leadership. Experience managing teams across time zones, with cultural fluency and a genuinely inclusive leadership style.
  • Operating style. A bias toward action, a service-oriented mindset, and the judgment to know when to standardize and when to flex. Excellent written and verbal communication; clear, calm, and credible under pressure.
  • Travel. Periodic travel expected, including to our other company locations as needed.
