Full Job Description
Responsible for external and internal contracts forshort-term and long-range strategic planning, resolution of issues to enhancethe development and quality of nursing care and developing and monitoringpolicies and procedures. Assists nursingmanagers with the development, implementation and monitoring of supply, capitaland FTE budgets. Collaborates with HumanResources and nursing managers in the recruitment and retention of nursingpersonnel. Serves on medical staff committees and nursing staff committees as anursing representative or advisor.

Essential Functionsand Responsibilities:

1. Plans,directs, controls and evaluates patient care nursing operations incollaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer. Develops and recommends short- and long-term strategic plans and methodsfor achieving goals. Assists inestablishing standards of performance, quality assurance and control, andpatient care delivery.

2. Servesas a resource and representative by assisting with the planning of cooperativeprojects with other hospital departments and community agencies. Promotes integration of services with otherhospital divisions.

3. Createsand maintains correspondence, records, reports, and other documentation relatedto the work.

4. Acts asa liaison/resource to Chief Nursing Officer when working with managers, alllevels of nursing staff and other disciplines, physicians, patients andfamilies, schools of nursing, architects, contractors, vendors, professionalorganizations, clergy and the media.

5. Interactson a regular basis with physicians to obtain feedback, resolve issues or planfor future needs.

6. Assumes24-hour accountability, 7 days per week for areas of responsibility.

7. Conductsrounds to areas of responsibility.

Required:
  • Masters' Degree in Nursing, Business Administration or related field within two years of hire date.
