Overview

The Director of Packaging for BRAND Crocs Inc., is responsible for leading enterprise packaging strategy and execution across the Crocs and HEYDUDE brands. This role ensures packaging solutions that are brand-appropriate, cost-effective, compliant, and scalable globally while advancing sustainability, operational excellence, and supplier partnership objectives. Operating at the intersection of Product, Sourcing, Sustainability, Operations, and Brand Marketing, this leader sets clear enterprise standards while enabling brand differentiation where it matters most.

What You'll Do

Enterprise & Brand Leadership
  • Own enterprise packaging strategy along with the design / development process across Crocs and HEYDUDE, balancing shared processes and standards with brand-specific needs.
  • Establish clear governance, decision rights, and handling critical issues for packaging across both brands.
  • Partner with brand marketing & product, regional, and functional leaders to ensure packaging supports consumer experience, brand expression, and operational efficiency.

Supplier & Manufacturing Expertise
  • Maintain deep knowledge of the global packaging landscape - materials, design/engineering trends, supplier base, including design & engineering partners, manufacturers, converters, sustainability, and compliance requirements.
  • Evaluate and maintain suppliers of design and engineering services based on capability, cost, quality, compliance, scalability, and innovation.
  • Partner with Global Product Supply to provide input and guidance to packaging supplier selection and sample approval
  • Understand and apply global manufacturing capabilities across all major packaging formats and materials.

Materials & Technical Expertise
  • Demonstrate strong working knowledge of all major packaging material types, including but not limited to paperboard, corrugate, plastics, bio-based materials, films, inks, and adhesives.
  • Assess material and structure tradeoffs to optimize performance, sustainability, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Partner with functions to guide & lead packaging testing, validation, and qualification standards to ensure durability, quality, and compliance.
  • Partner with Brand Marketing & Product teams to ensure packaging

Cost & Value Management
  • Own and manage total packaging cost in collaboration with Product, Marketing & Global Product Supply to deliver packaging that meets brand aesthetic, performance and cost targets.
  • Have a clear understanding of cost drivers and levers across materials, suppliers, regions, and formats to deliver value engineered solutions to business.

Global Compliance & Sustainability
  • Ensure all packaging meets global regulatory and compliance requirements, including labeling, safety, recyclability, and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations.
  • Partner closely with Sustainability and Legal teams to align packaging solutions with corporate sustainability goals and external regulations.
  • Partner with Sustainability to track and report on compliance, risk, and progress against sustainability targets.

Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Marketing, Supply Chain, Distribution, and Retail partners to integrate packaging early in the product lifecycle.
  • Support new product introductions, channel expansion, and regional growth with scalable packaging solutions.
  • Act as the enterprise subject-matter expert for packaging-related decisions and tradeoffs.

Process & Team Leadership
  • Lead and drive the packaging design & engineering process through a set of external partners and contracted resources as required to meet business needs.
  • Build enterprise packaging capabilities, tools, standards, and documentation to support consistent execution.
  • Create clear accountabilities & responsibilities with functional partners to ensure projects are delivered to expectations. Set clear goals for timelines and deliverables that enable effective execution of projects.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.


What You'll Bring to the Table

    • 10+ years of progressive experience in packaging, with leadership experience in a multi-brand or global consumer products environment.
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
    • Deep expertise in packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and supplier ecosystems.
    • Proven experience managing packaging multiple packaging projects and driving execution through external partners.
    • Strong understanding of global packaging compliance and sustainability requirements.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority.
    • Experience in footwear, apparel, or consumer goods strongly preferred.

Title: Director, Packaging

Salary or Pay Range: $150,000 - $175,000

Pay offered will vary based on job-related factors such as location, experience, training, skills, and abilities.

At Crocs, Inc. we believe in the power of a blend of in-person and virtual collaboration to drive creativity and strengthen relationships. Your participation in this flexible schedule plays a key role in building a connected and successful team. In-office requirements vary by our work personas: Resident (5 days), Collaborator (4 days), Connector (2-3 days), Explorer (fully remote). This role has been aligned to the Collaborator persona.

This position is eligible to participate in a company incentive program.
