Full Job Description
KBF is currently seeking a Director or Senior Manager in Phoenix, AZ to join our Corporate Tax Services team.

The KBF Corporate Tax Services group is 100% focused on income tax accounting assistance, tax compliance, and tax consulting. This includes preparation and review of income tax provision calculations, income tax return preparation and review, assistance with day-to-day federal, state, and international tax matters that may arise, and the identification, design, and implementation of tax planning strategies. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review income tax provisions pursuant to ASC 740
  • Provide tax provision and tax compliance services for a variety of corporate clients, from start-up ventures to Fortune 500 multi-national businesses
  • Serve as the primary client service contact for a portfolio of clients; proactively recognize opportunities to provide additional services
  • Manage the delivery of accounting services to ensure technical accuracy and high-quality work product within budgetary and time constraints
  • Build on technical competence by keeping up to date on tax law, trends and developments; apply deep technical expertise in the area of accounting for income taxes
  • Lead and manage teams of tax professionals:


  1. Manage the mentoring and development of team members; Be actively involved in team recruiting, training, and retention
  2. (Senior Manager) Review Associate and Senior work before submission to Managing/Senior Directors for top-level review


  • (Senior Manager) Assist in administrative and operational initiatives as assigned by firm leadership


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must be located in the Phoenix-area and available to work a hybrid schedule of 2-4 days in the office
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Accounting or a related field
  • CPA license
  • Minimum of 8 years (Senior Manager: 6 years) progressive post-bachelor's experience in each of the following:
    • Preparing and reviewing income tax return work papers in accordance with U.S. Federal, State, and Local income tax laws
    • Preparing tax documents using Tax Compliance Software, and the following Excel Tools: VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, SUMIFS, Pivot Tables, and INDEX+MATCH
    • Advising clients regarding tax strategies
    • Preparing and reviewing corporate tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740 standards and other guidance under U.S. GAAP
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in each of the following:
    • Leading and mentoring a team of 2-6 Tax Associates
    • Reviewing U.S. Federal, State and Local income tax returns prepared by Tax Associates

The salary range for this position reflects various factors that influence compensation decisions, such as skills, experience, training, certifications, licensure, geographic location, and other organizational requirements. At KBF CPAs, it is uncommon for a candidate to be hired at the high end of the salary range, as compensation is based on the unique qualifications and circumstances of each individual. The estimated current salary range for this role is Senior Manager: $150,000 - $190,000 or Director: $180,000 - $210,000.
